  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How I will build my own oil cooler for my TE511

Yes, I built a oil cooler and it was successful enough to have Husqvarna contact me. But, this is Randy's project/experiment. I suggested brazing because it fell within his means for the prototype and should work perfectly for this application.
I sure hope this works . Might be good for a utility paton ;) centrifugal oil sling wet bath clutch oil pump ! :)

As I recall, Tinken bought a spare case to experiment on ......
He buys a spare case to experiment on and that means what ? I might have to buy a clutch cover if this does not work.

I don't understand your coment. As stated by Tinken this is my idea . The Patton coment refers to a clutch and cover purpose built to produce oil pressure and flow rates to supply a oil cooler . My comment was for Tinken and not to distract from topic. With respect, Randy

Im just saying that if his work went bad he had a convenient backup .....(yes Im an IT guy)
I agree its your project and you're welcome to try whatever you like, it just seemed like that particular fact was missing from this particular thread (it is posted elsewhere).
Not trying to stop you, I do irreversible stuff all the time without a net :)

Yeah , I was feeling so good about this when I read your last post it struck me as " I owe Tinken everything I think of ! " haha

My very first attempt at brazing period......

I decided to leave brazing magnesium to aluminum to the metal experts like Tinken and went with brazing two pieces of aluminum .

Will finish the fittings looks then rivet and JB weld to the cover :applause: Bam ! A permanent mod that may or may not work :oldman:

With that type of fitting you could elongate it to include three or four holes if you don't get enough flow.

It's not going to warp with a propane torch.

This guy below used a propane torch and it warped :excuseme:

If you mean "warp" in the context "buckled beyond repair and useless - throw it in the bin - warped" .... then I agree with you.

Was just trying to point out distortion (warping) needs to be considered in every welding application.

This explains welding distortion way better than I can.... http://www.weldingengineer.com/Distortion.htm (not trying to school you Tinken, just for others to read)

Sorry for the slight thread derail Realwheelin.

No worries Boogie, I have been told that readers should question my opinions. :D
I actually welded my case cover originally, but I took precautions so that I didn't warp it. The casings are made of an unusual alloy blend which yields a lot of impurities. It took a huge amount of heat too.
:excuseme:

Also , what were you doing brazing your clutch cover
My oil return feeds cool oil to the torque limiter. ;)

Tomorrow will tap the finely fitted oil pickup :D and put together a high flow fitting :oldman:

I will cut of the barb from the 1/4'' fitting and cut of the treads from the 3/8'' fitting and solder together :p
