• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

post your last purchase for your 630

Hey I'm good at digesting posts. How about you? Now what is your point? You were proud you could wheelie in 4th gear. If you think your 610 is special and can outdo a 630, well you still have a few things to learn.. wheelie or acceleration.. the 630 is better, puts out more HP and torque and has negligible weight gain.. a few lbs once set up with a single can like the 610. Sorry to burst your bubble.

As for gearing changes, I for one have not changed the gearing on my TE630 because I ride at 80 mph for long durations and I'd smoke the motor with a 14/45 spinning high rpm and first would become useless. That make sense?

My POINT is, I was not pretending to make any kind of POINT.. I asked a QUESTION.....So anything directed my way is MISdirected and MISQOUTED... as I showed already. so many people spoke up about how it was so odd.. I posted as an example of being not odd at all. I only listed my setup for reference, which is about the most common of setup/gearing for a 610 that there is... no example of boasting there like you try to insinuate...
Wanna see my perfectly functioning 08 610 kicker now??? :p

The thing I really like about CafeHusky is the fact that people didn't/don't get wound up and spout off on the forum.:banghead:

Two lil wheelies, both "launched" in 4th, no clutch.

Really, are 4th gear wheelies so odd on these???? I know mine is an old 08 610 with just PU and 14-45, but even I can rip 4th gear wheelies no problem and now that I'm getting decent at it can usually grab and kepp it up through 5th..

Yeah.. there's the original post that two others had to refer to and basically call me a liar by "changing my story 2-3posts later" and / or "being so proud of" the "wheelie abilities of the 610"... Sure reads more like a question from here... Others had to get in a debate about what bike/gearing was "whelliable" and THEY dragged my name in it by calling me a liar because they didnt read properly... I get touchy about being called a liar.. Especially when it's because of thier lack of reading comprehension.

I come to this thread to see what has been posted regarding other members recently purchased/installed items.
I'm starting to not bother.
Wheelies are cool. Can't add much more than that. Mine happen to be accidental.
Will you guys please get back to the point.

Can we get away from wheelies and back to the threads subject? Just saying....

Latest purchase on my behalf is as follows:

Winter storage icl full service
valve adjustment
Oil and filter change
Air filter cleaning ( or change if needed )
Bolt tension check ( my front brake disc came undonde )
Clutch adjustment and bleeding of hydraulics
New front and rear tire, Michelin Pilot Power 2CT ( 120x60x17 and 160x60x17 )

Praying for a short winter!
:D

Again. like JTEMPLE, I dont know why you highlight me.. I NEVER said anything about what bike SHOULD with what gearing.. I ASKED, cause I was surprised others thought it was so odd.. and who the F doesn't change their gearing from stock???? OTHERS got in the discusssion vs. what bike and what gearing an dtalk of unicorns and honest polititian sighting etc..... I said FROM THE ORIGINAL POST what I had.. PUed 08 with 14-45. wtf.... reading comprehension anyone..??... Sorry, but I have lil patience for fingers pointed my way cause people can't eFFin read...
Plenty of people leave their gearing stock.

It isn't the content of your posts that really got my attention. It's your attitude. For example:

Really, are 4th gear wheelies so odd on these????
Well, yes, they are odd on these if you don't drop the gearing way down.

Awwww. :( well, theyre decent FOURTH gear wheelies.. with no unicorns involved.. lil. ill repost a diferent format later. :)

.40 all 4th... 2.15 4th into 5th... Suck it. :p

You jump in here, spouting all this 4th gear wheelie business and talk down to those of us that can't, all while you're riding a bike that's geared quite a bit lower than a stock 630.

Then, when someone calls you on it, you get defensive and try to pick a fight.

Back on topic!

I was removing a tweaked/warped front rotor and, of course, stripped the allen-headed bolt. I tried a few ways to get it out, and then bought one of these:

http://aldn.com/Pages/drillOut.php

This is a really cool little tool. It drilled right down through the bolt shaft, staying nicely on-center. Then the extractor part engages, squeezes itself down in the hole and ...zip...the bolt came right out.

I want a sticker on my helmet "Wheeling in 4th Gear is NOT a CRIME" ;) ok, no more about wheelies. But the bike does make sweet power with tuner/pipe/airbox mods...which is how this all started.

Latest purchace....Water pump seals and o-rings...will install soon and get bike back running. But no wheelies------

I get defensive when someone call me a liar when they in FACT ARE THE LIAR.. I never changed my story 2-3 posts like YOU said... Thats the ONLY WHEN and WHY I caught an attitude.. I asked the question around the campfire, Is it so odd???? Try reading right and an apology next time when you mispeak and I wont have an attitude. good day

Husky foot peg.jpg

ATD1 and Jtemple gave me the idea to use oem TE510 pegs. The are a direct fit and cost around $100 from my Husky dealer.

Oh yea, my TE630 wheelies better with the new pegs :p

I put these on my 630 and now I can wheelie through the water, snow and mud and not worry about my feet slipping off the pegs.. what a difference..

Are we back in kindergarten?

No.. if we were I would have already kicked Temple N Fast in the nuts after being released from time out after..... Kicking them in the nuts... ;). Bad ass pegs btw... Every 610/630 needs those... Just like modded gearing... :-P. Question for Fast though is, can he kickstart it after stalling out in the water... :P.... Sorry... Couldnt resist.... A big Husky hug for all now. :)

I put on a hammer head folding shift lever head and can now change gears easier while in a fourth gear wheelie! (Sorry - I couldn't resist!)

Now that will be my next mod... any pics of how it fits and/or any advise on the install?

I just might try a 14/45 so I can do third gear starts in the dirt and wheelie right from the hole shot and still click forth at 8K rpm....

Can you post the Hammerhead part number for your shift lever and who you purchased it from. I have a 2011 SMS 630 and would like a Hammerhead shift lever.

Me too! Nothing more humiliating than not being able to shift on a fast getaway `cos I just can´t get my foot under the lever.
Part number and source??
