• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Motoz tires

Yeah. I was wishing they would run it into the valley at the left until i saw the topo and realised it is near vertical! Cool place owned and guy by a very cool guy. A buddy of mine has 8x that amount of land which is much cooler for riding (more features) but very similar in the same area. I hope we get over there next summer and work it.

Motoz ?

Looking forward to the write ups. Glad you guys are having initial positive experiences with the MotoZ--i sure did.
Very very curious how well the intermediate tires held up for Kelleys 24 hour race. Im gonna run MotoZ at next months baja 1000, but not sure to go without a planned tire change (one set of HT), or do the usual new tire every 300 miles. (2 sets of IT?) Or maybe one set of IT's will work?
Decisions, decisions.

Kelley, did you go 24 hours on one set of IT compound tires? hmmmm.

Mate they reckon these things will cover the fink desert race plus the sighter plus a run or two after it..It would be interesting to know if 1 set would make the Baja?...

I have little doubt one set of HT MotoZ tires could finish the baja 1000.
Especially this year, its an easy 660 miles. Truth is most guys will be done before the bars close.

I know of one guy coming from Australia who will race the 1000 on a XR400 this year--he is 'sponsored' my MotoZ--we will find out how the tires do, im sure just fine.

Had my first chance to get the 610 out with the H/T's on. Rode about 100mi of mixed pavement and gravel roads then about 45mi of singletrack through the southern ohio hills. The weather was dry and the tires really performed great in the woods and on gravel at high speed. Very predictable tires, held corners great, predictable slides, worked very well in slow off camber areas and hooked up straightline like nobody's business! I think we have a winner!

On the slab they are alright with a little vibration, definitely weigh a bit more than the Continentals, hard cornering is not recommended as they want to slide a bit.

cheers,

Mike

Mike thanks for the report. I also have positive review to add. i did 54 miles of slick clay and a real mix of wetter condition stuff and LOVE the tires. It took me a bit to get used to them as I was being a bit cautious as i did not want a surprise. By the end of the day predictability became the word of the day for me as well. The rear one is awesome. tracks great under power and is the BEST tire I have use under braking conditions. I don't know what voodoo those guys did but I just love the way the back is always planted and never swapping. Even transitioning from one slick situation to another you could leave the power on and it tracks predictably at all times. Very confidence inspiring. The front I like a lot as well. Good stuff.

I agree Kelly,

these tires are really amazing! I like you was being cautious at first but by the time we were about to head home I was hammering the old girl down the trails. The fun was braking hard into a turn, sliding the rear out and then nailing the throttle in the slide, WHOA!@!! hang on! When these tires hook up you better be ready and pointed where you want to go, I found out the hard way by launching into a couple of big briar patches 1/2 way through a corner. I was prepared to slide alot more than I did,, OOPS! Good to hear that they hook up well in the clay, I'll have a chance to test those conditions here in a week or so. Overall I'm very impressed with the Motoz skins and will drop you a line this week to order a spare set.

cheers,

Mike

Cool Mike, please keep us updated as to how they hold up and how they work when they have some miles on them.

I added an info page on our site here...

Moto Z Tires

Just rec'd my IT Enduro today. Thank you Kelly.
It's definitely a meaty looking tire. Can't wait to get
it mounted and head up the hill. Should be the ticket
to putting my mighty 610's torque to the ground.

How hard are they to put on compared to other tires?

Traction in shallow snow with occasional 'ice' puddles compared to trials tires? or just a general statement?

Would they make my butt look even fatter? Would women find me more attractive?

Dean...our skinny trials tires make our butts look big! These Motoz tires would do the aesthetic opposite.

One of the EZest tires to mount i have come across due tot he natural rubber compound. Work better than trials tires in mud / snow IMHO. But not on rocks / roots where trials tires rule.

Long lasting tires.

Dean, when did you get fat?

Happens after spending 8 months in bed, but that is another story. I get back to you on the tires & other things.

That is why my MotoZ came from Motosportz.
Support those that support us:thumbsup:
Can not say if I would have saved any money by purchasing local, it honestly does not matter.
BTW, with only a couple rides on frozen ground I feel they are performing just fine. Very impressed with the front tire. Rear works well and looks as if it will have a very long life.
