  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012 TE 250 Race Map

No probs. Can't be 100% sure if it's actually from / for the TXC too, but it's the official ECU and injector kit for the TE 250 over here, that HVUK mentioned above. Might well be from the TXC but never researched it.

Chris.

Ok, I'm guessing that is the ECU and injector from the TXC Thanks again
Yes

if you look at the picture you can see the blue button. The only way/reason you did not get this part is

1. Got left out of parts box in shipping crate.
2. Got lost at dealer
3. Just can't find it****************************************!

The brochure says ignition system has adjustable advance, and iBeat does not chane advance. Button adjusts advance. Most dealers would or should have this figured out and get you the button and install it for nothing. If you don't anticipate it being useful then it's a moot point. Don't mean to say dealer is at fault but .......

I did about 30 miles of single track today. I'm sore but the bike is fine :) I have decided that I will get upgraded ECU and injector as mention in this thread. I will also change the rear tire to a more proper size. Anyone used the Motoz Tractionator?

A buddy of mine loves "the TRACTIONATOR." My next back tire will be one for sure. I'm currently using Kenda Trackmaster and it will need replacing this season. As for the "blue button" I haven't felt the need to use it. I find the bike works fine in the normal mode in all conditions. Good choice going for the injector/ecu... best upgrade I did for my 250. I am getting a rekluse next week and softening up the front stock suspension. Hopefully the weather will warm up so I can play with the new upgrade. It's freeking cold up here right now. It's never ending spending on this sport, but I guess we love it so much that the money is justified. Specially since we spend so much time on these things.. we want them to work perfectly

My son's bike is a 2011 TE250, it has the blue button. We powered up with the jumper, took off the air sensor, removed the cat converter (just separate the slip on from the header), took out the intake restrictor, etc... and this bike rips pretty good. I am over 250 and it is a blast when we switch bikes (TE 449 is mine).

What is your tire now? That stock Karoo will mess you up!

I feel the front tire gives me more trouble than the rear.
I have no confidence at all with this front tire very hesitant in every corner.

John, I would get a set of those Tractionators and the difference will be huge. My first ride on the stock Karoos was in mud and the results were terrible. Most of us who buy a TE 250 are buying it for the offroad. It's unfortunate that the bike comes with such horrible tires.

That's the rub, it comes DOT legal and is sold as a dual sport, so it comes with DS tires. My dealer swapped out the Karoo's for M16's for 50 bucks.

The "Blue Button" (on US models anyway) is not part of the stock config, it is an option/accessory so you are not missing it, the PO probably never bought one. I had it and never used it, just modulated the throttle and gear selection differently in the mud/roots.

What size Kenda did you put on? The manual calls for a 120 but I have read people using some as narrow as a 100. I find the big problem with the 140 is that it grabs without slipping at all. Sometimes a little tire spin is good. With the bike in stock configuration that makes for a lot of stalls at lower speeds. I prefer not to slip the clutch if I don't have to.
I rode enduros in the late 60's and early 70's, then trials for the last 10 years or so. This is more of a play bike for me rather than competition but I still want it to run correctly.

The Back Kenda tire is 120, 100, 18... I like the way it handles in all conditions for the price ($75). The front tire right now is a michelin and it's 90,90,21. It's an offroad tire and seems to work very well in the dirt but a little wierd on the pavement, but I'm used to it. I'm definitely going with TRACTIONATOR next since my friend swears by them and they are DOT approved...

Thanks, I think I will go with the Tractionators, can't be any worse:)

I just got a chance to ride my '12 TE 310 with the Race EDU and it is much better. George (Uptite) installed it and hooked it up to his AFR meter to get it to run a bit better around town. Think he was around 12.7 where it ran well. Idles higher around 2000-2200. Likely the mileage will suffer but it's more fun.

Somewhere in the conversation he mentioned these bikes are probably better with a smaller rear that can be broken loose .... just overall better control.

Glad you're happy with the upgrade. As for the mileage.. my 250 went 135KM before the blue light came on, then I went another 10KM home. was riding some road and some very rocky ATV trails. 13/50 sprockets, TXC 12hole/ECU knobby tires, Power up kit. My rekluse is in and will be installed on Saturday... Can't wait.. The weather is supposed to be above freezing on Monday

I'm pretty sure I'll put a Rekluse on either the Beta or the Husky, then if I like it, both. All of a sudden you have clutch expertise you didn't....cheating....not too old to learn but maybe too lazy...;)

Can anyone provide the part# for the 12 hole injector? I just picked up a 2012 TE250 and had the dealer install the power up off road kit. It shows race map 1 on the dash and I have no button like you guys stated. I took out the exhaust baffle already. I do want a little more low end grunt and not sure if the injector or gearing would help. I only want to use mine on road to get to trails so a top speed of (65 is plenty) what gearing should I go with? thanks!

The injector and ECU are a kit. Actually, it is just the TXC ECU and injector. I don't know that I'd recommend just putting the 12 hole injector but maybe you are referring to the ECU and injector. A pipe might be necessary too to get good use out of this kit. I put a 45 on the back so it will cruise nicely on the highway at 60. Top speed should be around 90. Some guys that race go 50 or 53 on the rear....

You can find the button in this catalog and the ECU/Injector kit...make sure you note the 250 one.

Here is one of the original threads on this topic... might provide more info for you. Part numbers are there too.
I use the stock 13/50 on mine and don't like going much over 80km/h for long periods of time
