i spent Memorial Day getting to know the Sierra trails. This is by Twain Harte, CA, not too far from the entrance to Yosemite. The trails in the Stanislaus National Forest are incredible and they were totally empty, even over the holiday weekend! I have traversed packed dirt, loose gravel, narrow sandy trails, and even found some streams to ford. I did two 3 hour stints, and I barely covered 3N08 and 3N07, using the paved section of 3N01 to access it (Just off the 108 highway in Long barn). I need to learn how to read the forest service maps, but I had a lot of fun. I even managed not to fall off (waiting on my crash bars), despite some close calls in the loose stuff going uphill. The weather was simply perfect.

My only worry is the fact that I do not have a riding buddy, and that there was no cell service. It meant that I was more conservative. Falling and having to chew off my own arm did enter my conscience once, but I soon forgot about that sort of nonsense.

    Some pics:

Narrow passage by a waterfall, had to keep the speed at around 25mph or less due to large rocks and deep ruts lurking in the shadows:

There was a barrel with lots of bullet holes behind this bend. I did not hang around too long.

I've moved the posts about the "Spot" to it's own thread.
This will help later on when we all run out and buy one and have questions.:D

Someone been shooting fish in a barrel? Maybe they could just learn to catch them the normal way. Nice shots, couple of friends over that way at the moment

My son could have been riding circles around me in the dirt. When we get some crash bars & Continental TKCs on the Strada it will just get worse.

Of course some of his speed is "foolishness of youth".

My Terra went to northwest Nevada and southeast Oregon over Memorial Day. There will be a full ride report (mostly on my 610) but here are a few shots from the trip...

Sorry about the 1-photo-per-post thing but I don't have the photos hosted anywhere yet.

That's exactly what I did in the first post and it didn't work as it should have. I've done it before but couldn't get it to cooperate today.

I edited the post you are referring to.

As far as I know, the only way to do what you initially did, was to upload 2 pics and press 'Save - without clicking on either "Insert every picture as... thumbnail" nor the "Insert every picture as... Full Image".

I would have said that the pic problem could have been operator error, but after seeing how that Terra is being spurred along, there is certainly no problem with the operator!

Dean, all you need is some RokStraps and a duffel bag for the back! Do it, man!

There are some awesome roads in between 101 and 5, too!

    I went here today:
About 8500 feet. Mt Lemon Arizona.
Mt Lemon ride is a nice ride. Paved twisties up, then I took some other road for fun and ended up here. Pleasantly surprised again at how well this machine performs both on and off slab. My tank bag is on the way and I will then carry my good camera, instead of using the cell phone.

I picked up a trail book, and my next ride will be on some mining trails near the border, I think it is #12, but what that means to me is nothing at this time. I will pinpoint the coordinates and look it up on google earth or something.
