You guys got me worried now. I installed one of the PC racing 116 ones I think it came with some stickers that say flow? Anywho, I didn't know I was supposed to flip the rubber grommet over and just installed it like a paper filter. Is this OK or???

I have an outlaw racing one I am yet to use. They measure 36.2mm that doesn't leave alot of room in the filter housing.
I'm going to get a PC racing, tusk or Scott's :P

    Cheers

This is the measurement of the PC Racing 116 out of the box before grommet flip.

    After - About 1mm diff....

So you just rip the grommet out turn it over? Do I remount it or does it just sit on there or? Sorry for being ignorant here but I guess I am missing what needs to be done. I get the fact that with a fatter grommet the idea is to increase oil flow around the outside end of the filter.

The one side is double the thickness of the other and almost as big a flange so works both ways. The need for flow is more around the opposite end so it's not opening the bypass in the filter. I think it is important to lube and firmly seat the filter in the cap as well.

I'd be defiantly flipping the grommet!!
To flip grommet carefully pry the seal out using a seal pick/ small flat screwdriver, and "flip it" so the inside now is exposed, this gives you another 1mm or so of clearance on the oil entry (engine case, back end of filter housing with the spring washer) which IMO is crucial!
Flipping the grommet appears to make the PC Racing SS filter the same length as a HiFlo

There's a good illustration on an earlier page of the filters oil flow path. Id be happy with the filter closer to the front cover to allow more clearance for oil entry into the filter housing :)

OK I got it now! Thanks for holding my hand through this.:) I just changed the oil a couple weeks back when I did the Rekluse install and with the winter suck still in place I haven't ran the engine much since so I will lay er down on her side and do the filter mod.

Make sure you push the filter onto the cap first, then insert into the case. :)

Stevel, the outlaw racing one is longer then the HiFlo paper filter and PC Racing SS filter.

I am yet to use the outlaw racing one

The outlaw will most likely work, still leaves a gap of 1.3mm for oil
Standard husq paper filter leaves 3.2mm
Hiflo paper and PC Racing leaves 1.8mm

I use HiFlo as do many others with no issues so that clearance of 1.8mm is O.K
I don't want to risk it by pushing that clearance to 1.3mm so I won't be using my outlaw racing filter.

Ill be getting a PC Racing or Tusk filter.

They removed the post? ouch... I'm sure KTM bought out the company knowing they might have to pay for some warranty issues. BUT, who knows. HOPEFULLY they read stuff like this, and make good on it...
You don't seem like a guy to totally blast the company in a public post, but keep it honest instead. Really hope they keep you loyal, fix your bike, and continue to support Husky owners. Otherwise I hope people will understand what kind of company KTM/Husqvarna really is, and stop buying their stuff.

All the bikes I've ever owned
    Just received a PC116 & flipped the grommet - getting a measurement of 36mm.

Have a new, stock Husky filter - 34.3mm. Tried switching the grommet from the Husky filter to the PC - it's too small, not secure at all.

I'm thinking I received an older PC116 - after flipping the grommet, there's a small air gap between the filter housing and the rubber flange. Probably 1mm worth of extra rubber, and it doesn't seem to give much / can't get it flush with the filter housing.

    Thoughts?

Time to order a Tusk or Scott's & drop kick the PC116?
