A Class
So Today I removed the Catalytic converter from my bike. WoW!! what a great pain in the A**
. But well worth it. So much more bottom end and off idle response seems to be a little more snappy
. It should run cooler as well both the pipes and the engine
. Cant wait to ride it. Next week in Mojave all week.
So here is what I did.
remove the muffler tail pipe assembly.
at the head pipe connection side drill out the rivets, then remove the pipe from the muffler.
you will see the "Cat" (it looks like thin corrugated sheet metal rolled back on its self, I will call this the "cat center"), and the full pen-welded all the way around. (the three stitch welds are not involved)
cut the weld on the head pipe side of weld all the way through.(you may need to fight
to get the the "Cat center" out.)
I drilled a large hole in the center of it all with a Large UNI-Bit and four others around the center hole.
I then used a sawzall with a narrow metal cutting blade and proceeded to cut it from the center out to each hole.
I then used pliers and pulled out the rest of the "Cat center".
I then used a die grinder with a carbide rasp to clean up the rest of the small loose "Cat center" pieces.
Reassemble with Normal aluminum rivets.
Have fun!!
Sorry no pictures, did think of posting this until after.
if you are having trouble send me your photos and I will be glad to help
