• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

NW Gathering Round 3 - 2012 - Ride Report!!!

I live in California. Sorta close to the ocean. 2012 SMR 511. Knobbies? Nah.....never occurred to me to ride in the snow. You folks are completely insane...... in the best possible way. Snow moto = Snowto? Anyways, looks like an epic get together. Gotta figure out a way to get OUT THERE.....

Hi, Ian! You're missing out if you don't ride your SMR in the snow! You don't really need knobbies, of course, but it helps. I, too, live in California and I ride my SM610 in the dirt all the time

100% I'm totally missing out. Dirt, yes, snow.... wasn't in the game plan, but it looks awesome. Gonna need to upgrade my racing flip flops tho....

Last winter we got a bunch of snow here...Everyone on the tv and radio and road went insta-stupid...I couldn't understand what everyone was so wound up about

I had fun thrashing, uh, er testing your trailer. Seemed to work fine.
Thanks, much appreciated, it means a lot coming from you.

Though that is clearly not a performance enhancing add-on e.g it does not make the bike go faster. After it gets more use I'll do some kind of report on it.

JonXX Serious tires on that sumo. What are they? Now that these good folks have enlightened me I need to gear up and get out in it.

Those are just plain-Jane Shinko 244's...I was dual-sporting it last winter but commuting on it too. They get "acceptable" marks from me in the on-road handling department, and a "surprising" rating in terms of traction in the red clay slime in the hills around here.

So, they call that white stuff snow? Interesting, never seen it before.

All you have to do is visit Lake Arrowhead/Twin Peaks area at the right time :-) I lived up there for a couple of years and the snow comes quick and disappears just as quick.

(I know y'all have seen some of these photos already, but I'm trying to do a regular ride report and will try to keep my photos in a somewhat chronological order. Thanks for your patience and understanding!)

Loaded and ready for my solo trek to the CafeHusky NW Gathering, 4am comes awful early...

Or maybe it's winter?

9 hours later I reach my destination. After goofing off at Atomic-Moto, my local source for killer moto gear, it's time to hit the local bar with some friends and see The Rum and The Sea, a local Pirate folk band...

The bar is housed in an old Catholic school. They have a theater and a magnificent soaking pool at 102º...

I'd have rather been soaking instead of locking up my Huskys for the night...

I wake up to 24º temps and some snowy bikes...

More on the way...

Awesome video Kelly. Looks like you guys had ideal China Hat conditions! Makes me want to buy a Husky just for the yearly gathering. BTW, how'd the MotoZ's work?

Haha, nice job on the video man! the editing was nicely done... DAMNIT, the part about drifting the dodge into a tree was supposed to be hush-hush :D

Thank god for giant steel bumpers!
