• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

May 2014 China Hat ride

The plan is to ride China Hat Wed through Friday and then we have some locals taking us on their secret single track on Saturday

Seems like there is a lot of folks going over for the "Russ Ride" week/end. Have you decided where base camp will be? If you could confirm "which camp", that would be great ! See you guys Friday the 16th !

Man I've been having the worst luck trying to get to one of these China Hat rides.

The first one I was planning to attend the transmission in the explorer I was gonna haul with puked just days before leaving. No hauler and suddenly a need to save money for a new truck canceled that.

The last one, I planned to roll in for Saturday. But a few weeks before the event my oldest daughter qualified for state competition on the same weekend. Wasn't missing that. Oh well I'll just make the next one.

And now this weekend. I started seeing flashes in my right eye along with what looked like a slow falling mist in my vision. This morning my optometrist tells me I have a torn retina. No motorcycle riding for a while. I see a specialist tomorrow and I'm sure will learn more about the solutions and what the recovery time will look like.

Anybody here deal with a torn retina? How long am I likely to be sidelined?

Was planning on hitting the Shelton enduro this weekend too. I'm so bummed!

If anyone from the Salem-ish area needs or wants a haul over, I currently have room for up to four more bikes. Let me know, I plan to leave Thursday early afternoon.

Whew!
False alarm. No torn retina. The specialist says I have a separated vitreous membrane. Whatever the hell that means. Anyway the good news is that I have no restrictions on my activities. So barring another unforseen calamity I'm gonna try to make China Hat.

Also still going to do Shelton. Hey Kelly did you decide whether you're going or not?
