• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Magnificent 7

cool job, looks great....Pro circuit will be miffed!

Thanx suprize!

Now I'm stuck at the forks.......

Almost impossible to find a set of fox forks but there is a couple sets, priced unreasonable.

I don't think they were top performers anyway.

Another option is to go simons and wait patiently for a set?

In meantime, think I'll shave off the Husqvarna name on forks and clear coat them, then use these decals, or just paint it on with KG stuff.

Nother option is to leave existing forks metal, accident around Husqvarna in white, do husqvarna in black, then do a yellow, orange, red stripe?

I could even machine the front and back ribs off, but not sure if it will make them weak and I'm asking for trouble? Andy might know?

Here is decal on way like on the fox forks

NoT so sure fox forks are that high tech now, but they sure where back in the day.

Same goes for their air only shocks, they look trick, but I'd bet Drew Smith, could tweak a set of vintage Ohlins that would work better.

Another good option would be 81 YZ forks. They're a 43mm KYB and were considered excellent at the time. AND THEY HARDLY EVER LEAKED!!

The front brake was good, too, so if you use the wheel it's a double benefit.

Guess tomorrow, gonna ad a Maico Breako into the collection.

250 Magnum II

If got time I'll restore that this winter. That depends if can find aluminum swingarm for it.

Got set of red and black ohlins ready to go.

Always wanted one.

I say!

Just grind the Husqvarna name off. Dress them up shiney again and spray them with Automotive clear.

Then apply decal......

The steering stem is short on the Yamaha triples for the Husqvarna neck. You will need to extend the stem(cut and weld in spacer) or use a stem from a PE400 Suzuki or a Kawasaki KX 125-250-500. You will want to play with the valving and I would do that without resorting to RaceTech. I would weld up the damping rod holes and install the pattern I feel works the best. Husqvarna-ish

Maico going home

Great bike, owned one from 2003 until 2015, steer brilliantly, front brake sucks if not set up correctly, not the most powerful engine in it's class.
I should have kept mine, I had a 490 motor to fit into it to build a "frankenbike", a combo of Maico's best engine and their best steering frame.
Tony.
