  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Seems the 2 stroke section is the place for 4cs talk so here it goes.
I originally had Halls spring my FE350 for my weight, at first it was OK but the front was just not sticking like the old red and blacks I'd had, after 15hrs seals leaked got fixed, after 20hrs suspension was unridable soft. Next went to a local husaberg/husky suspension guy new springs stiffer valving, way to stiff, did it again still no good, sent to zip Ty much much better than stock but as I road it got harsh didn't feel balanced, FINALLY bit the bullet and sent to Kreft!

So this whole kreft experience was top notch, communication was great, Adam talks to you personally and makes notes and keeps it in a file so no need explaining everything over and over. I went whole hog with Huck valves and the whole deal! Cost me extra to replace removed parts and patch hole in seal caps, had to buy springs for forks as well. In total with shipping and repairs I'm into it for $1700, and yes it hurts to even type that dollar amount but I had spent $1600 screwing around with all the stuff before that, yes hindsight is 20/20...
The review, my bike handles completely different COMPLETELY! It is the best suspension I have ever had or ever ridden period. I had two buddies ride it and both got off smiling and amazed that it floats over everything, rocks, trails junk, small logs you can't even feel but you still feel connected and confident! Corners, this baby carves now super balanced just lay over and apply gas!
I still wince when I come in hot to ruts and whoops and I still wait to let off because the front is going to wash out but it just doesnt! Its really amazing. I fought arm pump last year and it diminished by at least half or more today. I actually had a good time today for the first time since I bought this bike and can't wait to ride it again tomorrow! I guess what I'm saying is my bike is fixed!

Chums, Thanks so much for your honest information on the Forks set up. I'll be sending mine out to Kreft also to get it done right the first time.

I have a brand new 15 FE 501 being shipped as we speak on its way from Bills in Oregon down to me here in Arizona.
I only got quotes from 2 different places, him and the KTM/ Husky dealer closest to where I'm at in S.E. AZ. and I went with "Bills MC Plus" I didn't even bother to shop around and listen to how these dealerships are going to add this and that to run the price up another $1600.00 to $1800.00 onto the base price.
It's bad enough already when I have about $3,500 in goodies sitting on the living room floor to add to it when it gets here already. Mostly protective pieces in nature, such as slave cylinder guard with the built in case saver ,case guards, linkage protection, swing arm side protectors, side frame protection, different brake pedal tip and a longer shifter for my size 12, a better skid plate. New S/S oil filter and a few "twin air" spare air filter, front and rear disc rotor guards. A Zipty fuel filter and XF2 coolant. Still don't know if I mad it on the list for a GT 216AA tire or not. Paid for one but don't know how long the list was? 135 tires showed up as of last week but probably of different sizes and the list of people waiting was 68+ customers deep but who knows. Some of those may have stocked up on several apiece. got my other stuff from ZT in like a day. They ship fast.

I bought the factory complete kicker assembly to install for back up, Sicass map switch and complete lighting kit with switches and harness but without the signals, Its all supposed to plug directly into the factory harness. Even has a puny horn. So I can get it tagged and plates easily. A full FMF Megabomb system, the list goes on and on.

"Bills" swapped out the fork springs for my weight free of charge as he had a customer that wanted to try my stock rate springs so I couldn't pass that up. They mapped the ECU with the Euro map. I was the first one he ever had done that to for the FE501 as he says. Got the proper rear spring with several other bits and pieces from "Slavens" with an Xtrig Preload adjuster so I can lose the spanner wrench out of my fanny pack.

I've read and researched these 4CS issue threads very intensely. I have also learned a thing or two doing so and have familiarized myself to some extent with the WP suspension set up on my G450X BMW 4860s and 5018 Trax shock although totally different internally. I don't want to waste money doing this 2 or 3 times. I got a good pelican rifle case already to ship them off to Kreft..

I'll take the FE501 out for the first few rides just to put a few hours on them to loosen them up after everything else gets bolted on and after the first oil change and a few more hours it'll be time. So when I go over the bike after the first look over and service. They are coming off to get done right away after that, I'll wait until after the first few rides as its starting to get hot here already. I'll have to ride the BMW I guess while they are off getting redone. I know it's dialed and works, I'm keeping it for a loaner bike so I can bring someone out to ride with us when we go. I know its sorted and stone reliable.

I can't wait for the new Husky to show up though.

What is his average turnaround time and total cost to do the full on job with the Huck valves if he starts fresh and doesn't have to do rework from other shops previous modifications??
You can PM me if you would like.
Thanks Tim

Haha, great considering as the day went on the ground got super slimey. It was tough but the first two tests were awesome! I normally run mid pack A but today my AA buddy , who finished 3rd overall, and I mixed it up for the first 2 tests until his running and working out took over and my lack of all that took over lol.
It just eats whoops and logs, I'm way less tired, no jarring, no harshness anywhere. Still feel very good about it, went one click stiffer on fork comp just because of the chance of mud.

mud in Iowa ?? HOW ODD:lol:

Yeah ya get used to the standing two wheel drift balance act with the spring rains around here. This was in Illinois but hey they both start with an "I" and are both muddy lol. I could have certainly picked a better tire set up, had my "do it all" set up m59 front sedona 880 rear @1psi, would have been nicer to do a mx32 front and an irc m5b rear at this place anyway.

I thought about selling the 4cs and buying another set of forks for around the price you mentioned but, if I did, the new forks would still need to be adjusted for spring rate and valving so adding that cost put it well over 2k.

ZipTy 48mm Shivers come fully sprung and valved, and they don't have to be red. Same forks Dalton Shirey and Ricky Brabec/Robby Bell run. The best way is just to toss Shiver cartridges into your fork chambers. This gives you the best forks for the least investment.

Image above is Dalton's 4CS WP tubes with Shiver cartridges.
