• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Foot peg relocator

Got mine the other day. Very nicely executed. I'm going for a ride shortly.

Installed mine yesterday and had a nice 200 km ride today.
Shifting with my size 12 (euro 45) MX boot is much easier, I may actually move the gear lever back down a bit.

It definitely helps out the shifting issue when you've got mx boots on. It's a nice idea and very nicely crafted by Husky666. Nice to see he's gone global with it.:thumbsup:
BTW, SomeFinn, you might also try removing the rubber piece on the
footpeg for better grip and even more room for shifting.

That's awesome!Like jerbear recommended you may want to remove the rubbers too.Then it will feel much better with the lever in the stock position. :cheers:
 
Some_Finn, you might also remove that self retracting knob on your kickstand, unless you want to be picking it up off the ground on a regular basis. Sorry for the hijack.
 
Yes, the knobectomy is the next thing I'm planning...
Probably will do some tests with the peg rubbers on/off and moving the gear lever to see what works best for me.
 
What torque for the 12.9 & 10.9 bolts?

I just installed my footpeg relocators this weekend... love how they give my feet a bit more room to work.

Any recommendations on the proper torque for the 12.9 and 10.9 grade fasteners? I ended up using about 38 Nm for the 12.9 bolts, and 30 Nm for the 10.9 grade bolts... does that sound about right?
 
I'd love to get a set as well. Just purchased a 610 and love it but one of the first things I noticed was the shifter spacing was really tight. If you are still selling, I would love to get a set.

Hi husky666 would your brackets fit an australian 2004 te610e? I have a side on pic if your interested? IF they will do you still sell them?
 
New bike same old problem

They changed a lot on the new 630's but they didn't fix this problem.I am doing this mod before I even go on my first ride.

Help for a Big Foot

This would be a great fix as this is my only real gripe on my 08 610!
If you are still producing could you put me down for a set!!

Welding on the relocator plates...?

Has anyone tried welding the plates on instead of using the 12.9 grade bolts? I just snapped two of the 12.9 flat-head bolts while riding last weekend. Thinking I may just weld that sucker on there and be done with it.
 
I watched my dealer grind the area flat behind the footpeg attachment area. He said people were complaining about the bolts not being strong enough and breaking. He said they were strong enough but the fitment on the area needed a little work so everything was flat and not pre-stressed by fitting less than flush. Made sense.
 
Yes - I heard about that too and ground mine down flat. But still seem to have this issue with broken bolts.
 
+1 for grinding the area flat.

I broke 3 sets of bolts before I heard of doing this. Since I put the foot peg locator and ground the frame flat, I have never broken one!

That is correct,the fitment needs to be good and torqued properly. If the torque is to low it will cause improper stress on the bolt which will cause it to fail. FYI, the 8mm 12.9 grade bolt we are talking about has a shear strength of over 6900 lbs and a tension strength (pulling) of over 8000 lbs. So if used correctly a bolt of that size could easily lift up your car. :cheers:
