    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Beta, Beta, and more Beta!

People have been posting prices new in the high 3k range

Who on earth would ever sell a BRAND NEW bike for that low?!?! If they are being sold that low than yes maybe you could build one to be a lot better. Why are they selling so low? I would have guessed like 5-6k for a new one, but never 3-4k.
 
For what you can buy a WR300 for you could dump 4K in it and still be cheaper than a KTM or Beta.
This is true but you would still end up with a lesser bike. I have owned both and even $4000 is not going to make the wr a better bike.
The wr is a great bike but it is the sum of old tech and parts. Old frame, heavy old 5 speed engine, no electric start just a few things that make an $8000 ready to race out of the box bike look good.
 
I believe that if every owner of a Italian built Husky ever rode a Beta, they would be surprised on how much tighter the Beta turns. I've had a Husky since 2007 and have had a lovely time with them. The Beta is such a great bike.

Highly subjective. There are many that have posted on this forum liking the WR250 more than the KTM 250 stock for stock.
 
I would love to ride a Beta. I'm very impressed with what I've seen and heard, so I'm highly considering one for my next bike. If Hall's would pick them up it would be a no-brainer. But, right now I'm wondering about dealer support.

Obermeyer has picked up Sherco, so I'm not ruling them out, yet. Seems like it might be a good bike also, and Obermeyer is close. Never dealt with them, but I've raced with the owner a lot and have heard good things about the shop.

Nor am I totally ruling out the new Husky, since Hall's will be handling them, and there are a lot of good Husky dealers already out there, as well as some great Husaberg shops. So I can't just turn my back on them, but I'm not crazy about the KTM involvement. I think they're going to price my out of their game and I really don't want a KTM.

But, I'm in no hurry to do anything either, since I'm pretty happy with my WR. It's pretty must loaded with goodies, the jug is on the porting bunch right now and it's about to get a six speed.

Regardless of all that, I'm still hot for a Beta. :thumbsup:
 
Ive been looking at a beta very hard latley and actually went to see one. Best looking stock bike ive ever seen. However, all my friends are telling me not to buy it and only stick with honda, yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki, or ktm. They said theirs no resale value on a beta and theirs just not main stream.

That may be true with their 4 strokes but I'm sure the 2 strokes hold their resale well. I've only found one used for sale though. I'd say in my area KTM 2 strokes hold it the best

I mean lets be honest, only a handful of people really are taking beta seriously at this point. I personally like the bike, but the more I ask people about them the more they have no idea what they are, or they don't think much of them. Kinda ticks me off to be honest.
 
Who cares what anyone else says, find one that you can ride and make a decision. Consider how much time and extra $$ you spend getting a KTM or a Jap MX bike right and there goes your added resale. If its a 4stroke take even more off. As far as I know, I'm racing one of two Beta 300RRs in all of the ECEA HS series. I have no interest in going main stream.

I'm really surprised by that. They've been everywhere in reviews and advertising. You talk to the wrong people lol. I think it'd be hard not to like the Betas though. I've never been a 2 stroke guy but they seem to be on par with the competition and little more cool factor considering they aren't everywhere.

As much as I hate to say it, the new Husky's are growing on me. I never hated KTM's, I just don't care for the lack of changes but who knows what will happen in the future. Either way, I think Beta will be a big brand in no time.
 
The KTM market is starting to get flooded, their resale value is not going to be what it has been in the past.
Hard to say what the resale of Beta is going to be yet, but I think it will be decent based on the fact that they are up and coming. Doesn't hurt that Cody Webb is winning mainstream events on a regular basis, that kind of makes the bike mainstream.
I have been letting KTM diehards ride my 250rr, many love it, others say it is every bit as good as KTM, only one was negative, saying it felt like sitting on an 80(lower seat height compared to a jacked up no link KTM)and that guy may have overdosed on orange kool aid.
American Beta is setting up some non conventional dealers, small hard core dirt shops, that actually ride and care about dirt bikes. In doing so, there may be some that are not business minded enough, and they may not be responsible in getting back to customers, but over all you are are going to get better service than some of the big dealers that are more interested in side by sides, street bikes and jet skis.

I am saddened over the KTM takeover, reason #1, PRICE! The new Husky will be over priced just like KTM.
Resale on Beta? There is no resale on Beta, the reason, because everyone that owns one, will not sale it. You have to pry it from their cold dead hands.
I have had less problems with my TE than my RS over the years but either of the bikes works phenomenal for what, where and how I ride. The TE is now on its second motor after 7,000 + miles. The Beta is rounding up to less than 3,000.
If I wouldn’t have dumped a bunch of money into my YZ250 I would have a RR250 smoker instead. Beta’s are great bikes and for the guys that say stay with the three Jap bikes or KTM are definitely not looking at the big picture. These bikes are coming in force and with top riders getting on the podium, even faster.
 
That looks nice. As I see pix of the new "huskys" riding around they look like they are unfinished and need more color. Looks like a bike someone just slapped new white plastic on. Is that a Pirelli on the rear? Looks just like the STI's I am trying out.
