• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

$350 barn find

Looks like a kind of sensor, aftermarket for sure.
It is welded only on right pipe ?
Sensor of what ?
Not for oxigen because it is useless on Huskys,
Look at ignition part on engine: it should be a SEM.
SEM dont have any sensor application....
Its a mystery.....

Its welded in and a cap comes off for what ever it was.
I looked, its all SEM and new
Will cut them off and clean it up.
Tune with exhaust gas temps for a good air fuel ratio is old school before the wideband O2 today.

still legit on two strokes

the strange VIN
DGM is the Italian version of the american DMV.
Dont cut them for now. you can find original ones very cheap.
My personal opinion as always.

What a great buy!
Why don't they ever come up that cheap in Australia?
The best of both worlds with late eighties suspension and brakes, with Swedish heritage even if built in Italy.

Yes, go with Kibblewhite valves, nice valves used them in my 510 rebuild, very happy, plus there 1/2 $ of OEM  .

he hasn't got the bill for rebuilding the engine, the rear shocker and sorting the oval rear engine mount inserts.....yet

Washed it up and pulled the motor.
Inserts and pivot axle are just fine, tight in the cases.
Swing arm bearings need a repack, still roll nice and not dry lol
Pulled the clutch cover and the cam chain is tight, my 87 had slack on both sides.
This bike was crashed and put away with low use, stuff like the drum has no wear and its easy to wear out a drum.
Look how mint the swing arm looks with a few wipes.

I found this inside my last 1989 510 head.....
The one missing is gone, destroyed with piston and head....

Were the springs weak and had valve float?
Do the 89s have a peice valve?
I got the top end off and i see valve contact and compression is low so geting a new piston. the wall looks fine and stiil see the cross hatches.

you should measure the slug, it may be ok and just need rings. if you have crosshatching, it would be reasonable to assume it could still be in specs. up to you.

Well if i was selling it i would use the good rings from the other 510 with the bad wrist pin lol
Piston is cheap enough, there is room in the budget with bike being so cheap.
