  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2012-2013 TXC 310 need help

Is a KTM junk when it isn't at the front of a test?

There is a lot of people here that loves their bike. The only reoccurring complaint is the lack of a wide ratio transmission. The issues that I have read about I can find on any forum and it really means nothing. Again, there are thousands with a bike with about 50 complaints, not so bad. I always feel bad that people spend thousands on a bike and it turns out to be crap. It's happened with several companies I have bought from.

At the same time I feel there is a difference in sharing your experiences and degrading a product that many appreciate. I have only ridden a txc250 and tc449 but I honestly loved both. The year end deals can make up for any shortcomings. Enjoy the KTM as I too believe they are great bikes I just prefer Huskies.

He does have a point. The flip side of the coin is guys in my area are racing are racing events and placing every weekend taking home contingency money week after week. At the end of the year the contingency money is more than enough to pay for the desperation.

When I bought my bike I picked it up on a promotion at the end of the year for $3900 less than a KTM 350 Xcf-w. I have had a bitch of a time with my bike this year but when I showed up this weekend to a turkey run and needed a tow to get it started I wasn't impressed and took alot of shit from my fellow club riders. After we got going 30 miles in we passed that same friend in my club who gave me shit with his $10k KTM all torn appart tank off on the side of the trail all I could do was honk and wave as I rode by. Moral of the story every manfacture has issues and yes husky needs to get there crap together but they are on the right track and I am pretty sure they'll get there.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but...

"Read the magazines 449 worst bike ever built" - Says MXA, so what.
"tc250 not even close in power to the big five" - Yup, not there yet but it's getting closer.
"txc250 bad fuel injection" - Says who?
"txc310 lost to ktm350" - What other crappy magazine told you that?
"tennese knock out huskys on fire" - Leaves
"motocross des nations huskys being pushed of the track" - Lupino
"Jason Thomas quits a factory ride to ride privateer ktm" - Andrew Delong
"o yah last but not least all of the constant crying and complaining about your junk huskys on yhis site" -

Nerd out!

Look its not like i tryed i bought 5 huskys in 3 years. 2010 txc250 need i say more, 2010 wr 250 over weight old bike, 2011 tc250 get out your wallet for repairs, 2011 wr150 not bad very hard to jet, 2012 txc310 same as all the rest problem after problem. Yes i know all other brands have issues also but remember this show up at a race and to see a ktm on the side of the trail is possible but there are 100 ktms to every 1 husky out there so you do the math. I think most husky riders are vet riders not that some arnt very fast but a husky in the hands of an a rider is very exspensive to maintain. I knew someone would pull the andrew delong card but he is a factory rider an i dont know how many people on here rebuild there bike every week and replace it every 2 mounths. So just give people the truth before they make a big mistake. HUSKY NERDS

Jason Thomas was a "factory" rider too broseph. That was your point. Not mine. But don't let the facts get in the way. :D
You obviously had some bad experiences with Husky so I guess I can't blame you. But no need to lash out at the members here. They like their Husky's. There's no one man axe to grind that will change that. Maybe we should keep the name calling out. It's unbecoming.

Antoine Meo did well on his CH Husky....world champ.
Several other CH team riders were in top 3 at least. World Champ Supermotard class too.

Still, I'd agree, from what I saw and heard, racing a Husky was a frustrating and somewhat futile effort. I have no idea if they broke more than most but the bikes at Mammoth lacked the parts to put them back on the line. My dealer wouldn't claim to be able to support racers because of the parts issues.

I gave up trying to race my 2010 TE250 after 2 enduros.

It actually runs very well now. I just dont want to push it. I use it for light trail riding now and it is well suited. With my 4 port FI adjusted it runs about as good as a stock 2012 with a 10 port. Took a while to get it there though. Can still fart and stall or drop off the pipe sometimes. Better in sand than rocks.

The TC250 2013 I rode was just a step above any other Husky at the Demo day.
the Keihin FI is much smoother and it starts perfectly....woods power is excellent.

Front forks a little stiff but it was a brand new bike. A high fork and low shock made it a little chopperish but a sag adjustment would fix that.

Brakes are super and bike is light!

Get the Red Head if you can.

Look, I appreciate you tried the Husqvarna brand, and can appreciate that it is not perfect.

This is a High-Class forum – post accordingly. Attitude, helpfulness, spelling, punctuation, all count.
I do believe you have not been posting in this thread according to the rules - which is the first post on this site. There are a lot of places on the internet if you want to call people nerds, but Cafe Husky is not one of them.

If you have an issue with the brand, and I do know there are issues, clearly type your input with out all the other stuff.

And I removed the picture of the dog someone put up, which clearly did not help the situation.

We're very spoiled on this site by having intelligent, helpful and friendly forum members. Occasionally a guy like this has to come around to bring us back to earth.

Wow, this thread started to remind me of TT and why I never go their anymore. Good thing for moderation.

I'd go with the discounted '12. IMO, no matter how good an updated model is, you always have to throw Money at it for protection and tuning it for your personal needs. That and I hate thrashing such an expensive bike but it must be done!

Ok, now back to my nerdy Huskys that folks at the local races love to come over and talk to me about, got my 2nd overall in my division at my local series even though I crashed it repeatedly.

I would help considerable if I knew how to decifer, I can assume that the 2013 performs a little better but not so sure about the value of the distance on graft. Does it show considerable better performance or slightly noticeable performance?
Excuse my ignorance.

You're not showing ignorance. A graph without a scale can be useless. For all that graph tells you, that could be a tiny segment of the overall power/torque curves.

It's what, only 3 hp difference @ stock level '12 vs '13. But Fully ported and polished with after market exhaust, the 10% larger valves and cams will make a bigger difference.

Excuse my ignorance.

The 13 is considerably stronger in the mid range so to me the most significant thing about the graph is the huge increase in torque around what would be approx 6000/6500 rpm. This matches with our riders experience from the press launch and would explain why the 13 310 pulls so strongly.

More power all the way through and a much stronger torque curve looks pretty good to me!

I see enduro in your original posting...I think I read somewhere that Husky's 2013 contingency in going to go back 2 model years not 3.

So, in 2013 only '12 or '13 models will be eligible...So, if you're the kind to keep it a couple years...2013 for a different reason.

Don't really want to get into the whole conversation above...but ours is a 2012 TXC250
that the boy has hammered! Just in for the 60+ hour valve checkup...nothing has moved since day one.
And we are going to hammer some more...not done yet!
