  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc '14 CR125 to Woods Weapon

Well, I finally got started on the conversion. Today I got the 144 kit, the Lectron, CV4 silicone hoses, hour meter, and the WR tank on. I was about to get started on the EE radiator guards but it looks like an erector set operation and I didn't have the patience for it. No problems with any of the parts installation. Set the power valve linkage as advised by WB in one of the tacked threads, 3/4 from the top (best for woods riding).

Ready for kit installation.

"howd the lectron fit up? no airbox deformation? what size are you running?"

Lectron fit great, no problems, 36mm on advice of Kelly, best for woods riding.

Today was frustrating though. The EE rad guards are a Rube Goldberg affair and don't fit. Turns out that the brace rods were to short, called EE and they knew about it, said they'll send me the right ones on Monday. The FMF Fatty stinger wont fit into the stock silencer, too large an O.D. Called Hall's, they said ship them (pipe and silencer) back and they'll check it out, send me another pipe if need be. Tried chamfering the inside of the silencer in the hope it was only burrs or something-no go.

So the only thing I got accomplished was the Ricochet skid plate-fit perfect, easy install. Solid and looks like it will give good coverage. Think I need a Brake Snake after looking at the brake pedal clearance.

Todays progress:

cool spot for the hour meter but PITA to check hours isn't it? I may try find a similar spot but easier to check, maybe facing the air filter?! I gave up on them cause they always failed after a while from washing/rain/mud etc. hurry up & get that thing dirty would ya!

I'm a long way from getting this thing back together. I first tried to mount the Hr. meter on the right side of the steering head but the radiator guard was in the way. Then I thought about the cylinder head braces, but I was concerned about the vibration killing the meter. It's not a big deal to check it inside the air box/rear fender when you clean the air filter, and it's protected there. Also I didn't want the mounting screws(I don't trust 2 sided tape long term) protruding inside the fender toward the rear tire.

I put the hour meter right on the tank in front of the gas cap (double sided tape). You will never miss an oil change with it looking right at you.

My hour meter is mounted to the top of the rear fender, under the seat. It sits right behind the crossbar that the back of the seat sits on. That way, you just need to pop the seat off to check the display!

I didn't run one at all last season (just the factory odometer), so I am very interested to see the hours vs. miles this year so I can estimate how many total hours are on my bike.

Made some progress today, and had a couple of issues.

1st. issue was the TM DesignWorks chain slider will not fit, the rear mounting points are way off. Sent it back for a refund. They said they
thought it would work a on 125, although they never actually tried it.

Rollers and Guide are fine.

DID chain, SuperLite steel sprocket, 7602 axel blocks-no problem.

2nd issue 7602 rear disc guard wouldn't fit in the caliper mount guide slot on the swing arm. So I removed a little aluminum with a grinder and file.

Mounted up fine after that.

Renthal FatBars, grips, and G2 hand guards went on no problem.

Enduro Engineering sent me an e-mail saying the longer radiator guard brace rods are in the mail, and hopefully Hall's will get the FMF Fatty pipe/silencer issue squared away tomorrow.

So then all I'm waiting for are the BMP case guard, brake snake, HSP gas cap and the graphics.:) I'm starting to get real excited as this bike comes together.

I found some more bling today-Zeta red anodized billet handle bar clamps with nylon inserts and a red anodized fuel cap vent.

Spoke to Hall's today, they're sending me another FMF Fatty pipe and Power Core 2 silencer. The stinger on the first pipe was egg shaped. They convinced me I needed the FMF silencer to go with the pipe, I'm so easy:thinking:.

shawbagga-I'm not worried about the fuel cap, it'll be the cherry on top of the sundae when it gets here.

surfingboyo-That's why you take lots of pictures when they're new, so you can see the contrast once they've been used.

I keep mine pretty new looking for a very long time. Some guy last weekend sounded like he was complaining when he told me that my 300 looked too clean. I pointed out that I like to keep my bikes shiny and clean. Then he said that there were no scratches, or any dents or scrapes on the pipe. I told him that I don't like falling down.

T
Brought it home yesterday from Halls. Those guys are very helpful and knowledgeable. They set up my suspension with a 5.8 rear shock spring, sag and some base line adjustments.

My plan is to set it up for single track woods riding here in SE Missouri, our trails are not very steep, but rocky and snotty. I'll post up picks as I install the new parts. I've got a pretty long list. I plan to do it in 2 phases.

Phase 1:
Protection
-G2 hand guards, black
-EE radiator guards
-7602 Racing billet disc guards, red
-P3 CF pipe guard
-Riccochet aluminum skid plate

Fueling
-WR or IMS tank, black
-Fuel vent lines, red

Engine
-Husqvarna 144cc kit, cylinder ported by MaxPower RPM
-head painted red
-FMF Gold series Fatty pipe
-Samco silicon radiator hoses, red.
-Hr. meter

Phase 2
Drive Line
-SuperSprox rear sprocket, red
-DID "O" ring chain, gold
-Delete counter shaft sprocket guard, BMP case guard
-TM DesignWorks chain guide, slider, roller, red
-18" rear wheel/tire (after I wear out the stock 19" tire)

Bling
-7602 Racing billet axel blocks, oil fill cap, red
-Renthal FatBar, red, dual compound grips, red/gray, bar pad, black
-UFO 2011 RMZ front fender, white
-DeCal Works T2 graphics, tank shrouds and plates, red and black reversed

I'll post up some pics when I've made some progress.

Talk to me about exhaust before you buy anything. Scalvini pipe is absolute #1 performer on this motor option!! I have exact same bike and set up in garage. Been going strong for 2 years.
