  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Brought it home yesterday from Halls. Those guys are very helpful and knowledgeable. They set up my suspension with a 5.8 rear shock spring, sag and some base line adjustments.

My plan is to set it up for single track woods riding here in SE Missouri, our trails are not very steep, but rocky and snotty. I'll post up picks as I install the new parts. I've got a pretty long list. I plan to do it in 2 phases.

Phase 1:
Protection
-G2 hand guards, black
-EE radiator guards
-7602 Racing billet disc guards, red
-P3 CF pipe guard
-Riccochet aluminum skid plate

Fueling
-WR or IMS tank, black
-Fuel vent lines, red

Engine
-Husqvarna 144cc kit, cylinder ported by MaxPower RPM
-head painted red
-FMF Gold series Fatty pipe
-Samco silicon radiator hoses, red.
-Hr. meter

Phase 2
Drive Line
-SuperSprox rear sprocket, red
-DID "O" ring chain, gold
-Delete counter shaft sprocket guard, BMP case guard
-TM DesignWorks chain guide, slider, roller, red
-18" rear wheel/tire (after I wear out the stock 19" tire)

Bling
-7602 Racing billet axel blocks, oil fill cap, red
-Renthal FatBar, red, dual compound grips, red/gray, bar pad, black
-UFO 2011 RMZ front fender, white
-DeCal Works T2 graphics, tank shrouds and plates, red and black reversed

I'll post up some pics when I've made some progress.

Nice looking bike and I'm sure you'll have a blast riding/racing it. Also looking forward to see what it looks like once you have all your goodies on it.

Did the guys at Hall's do some work on the valving in the fork/shock along with the springs? You'll definitely want that for woods work.

Those 125s really are great looking bikes!

gold valves are a good thing for the forks. have fun, that should be a fun little ride!

IMO there is no need for gold valves in those forks, the stock valves will work fine, as long as you or the tuner knows what setup to run in them. For example, see this thread for some info (different forks, but the same idea): http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/im-revalving-my-45mm-shivers-on-my-02-cr250.39620/

The nice thing about gold valves is that you get valving specs with them, which is nice if you're not sue what to run. The valves themselves are certainly nice pieces, but the main difference in in the valving, not the ports.

If people want to run gold valve, no problem at all with that, I just want folks to know that they don't "need" to buy them. For a few bucks you can buy some shims and get a similar effect.

I have a 2014 cr125. I use it for track riding only. It is SO FUN. When I get to 15 hours I will install the 144 kit. I'm almost 200lbs and it pulls my but just fine, over everything....

I'm gonna try the Mikuni first before I pop for the Lectron. The mechanic @ Hall's swears they got the Mikuni sorted, RM needle, float mod, and they drill out around the main to keep it from fuel starvation. We'll see. I think the 144 kit will be fine with the ports cleaned up. Maybe later for the 165 kit, I've got enough to spend $$$ on with what I've planned. I've already started ordering parts.

Steve @ Hall's raced a CR for a couple of seasons in the woods, he's about my weight, better rider though, he recommended the front and rear suspension settings with the 6.0 rear spring. If I can't get it to work for me I'll put in the Gold valves, I've had success with them in my WR450 and street bikes.

Thanks for the tip on the BMP case guard.

My Yamaha is jealous already:

I'll update when stuff starts showing up. Hooray for the brown Santa!

Steve from Halls is great. Enjoy the new bike. I have been fighting the urge to grab a 2012 hold over still sitting on my local dealers sales floor. $3800 is tempting...

That's what I am in the process of doing to my Mikuni on my 125 WR. I have already drilled the drain plug and adjusted the float. I have my RM needle ready to install, and the smaller pilot jet too. But my bike is actually running pretty nicely right now.

Not to be annoying.
But what can be better then getting a lectron out of the box, put it on the bike adjust idle and ride and don't do anything about it for the rest of your life except putting fuel into it

This lectron is designed for riders, if you are a mechanic and love chasing the jetting keep the mikuni

for sure you can get it right but its a constant process of getting and keeping it right and it only deprives your riding time

for me the lectron is one of the top listed engine mods for any bike

Not to be annoying....but I did the Lectron thing on my 300 and went back to stock with JD kit. I'm glad that the Lectron is the answer for so many people's issues. It just isn't for every single person on the earth, and it wasn't for me. Maybe firedog will want one later....maybe not.

Just rode the bike a few times and see if it needs anything. I am riding a 2012 cr 144that is stock except for FMF pipe and love it. I have also let a couple of my buddies ride it and they love the suspension and motor. It takes a couple of hours, but I think u will find it is awesome!

shawbagga-Thanks, it's a great bike. Those old steel frame WRs are solid, if a bit HEAVY. Mine is a '06, last of that generation.
