It would depend on what your riding preference and local requirements are I guess.

The FX has some parts from both YZ & WR.
It has the firmer YZ suspension, exhaust, air filter and tune.
It has the WR wide ratio gearbox and electric start but no lights.
If you require full registration, then you only have the one choice, the WR.
If not, the FX would be the smart choice in my book based on the reviews I've been following.

Sadly they won't be able to be registered here due to the goofy off road only on the title.

from the reviews i ve seen/heard and myself testing the YZ250F its been the most powerfull 250 engine so far (ok- the Katoom might have more top end but the overall perfomance is outstanding)- when i tested the bike i wasnt shure if i accidently jumped on a bigger bike- but thats just how it feels to me...

The FX should've come with the skidplate as the frame and brackets don't look good without it and it would be a bad idea to ride it without one.

    True.
I guess they figure most race guys would bin the plastic skid plate & fit something more substantial.

So I rode the new WR250F.
    Engine rips for a 250!

Unfortunately, I think the setup was way off as it had no front end grip what so ever. It still had original tyres, forks were brand new so not bedded yet and the terrain was pretty dry.

We weren't allowed to bring our own bikes as it was a private venue, so couldn't compare directly, but until I can get a ride on one where I can compare directly and make some adjustments of my own, I'll be sticking with the TE449. It would have loved the conditions.

That vid really backs up your thoughts. Looks like raising the forks in the triples and a tire that actually works would be in order. Reminds me of how my 449 turned when I first got it with the Karoos.

My TE was delivered with the forks up about 15mm through the clamps.
The original Michelin road legal tyres were evil at best.
I think the WR has potential for sure, but I'd like some time alone with it before I stumped up my cash.
Loved the power, it's a feisty little engine. :)
Make the forks run smooth over the small stuff and find some grip & it would be a sweet ride.

I saw one for the first time last Saturday at the Dealer (YZFX)... When I sat on it I thought it felt awesome!! The only thing i didn't like was the electrical hanging out unprotected on the left side of the bike.

    Looking forward to riding one...

I agree, I really liked the ergos being a tall guy. It didn't feel wide as some have speculated but that's just my opinion. Ymmv
