Ok the led has red and black wires so Ill make sure they are correctly connected. I will try this when I get home. When I last tried it with one yellow frame grounded,(thought was the ac is just traveling thru the spi to charge it) but yea ill use just one. My battery came too so ill try. Probably do the same thing but have the dc go to battery to hopefully charge the battery then the led connected to the battery

This is really starting to frustrate me. As far as my researh i have concluded that the two yellow wires are the ac in( yellow from the motoplat then a wire from frame ground to the other yellow wire on the regulator. Then the red and black wires are dc out. But problem is with this configuration the dc out is rrgistering like negative volts. My multimeter is a POS too so idk but i think it just doesnt have the voltage to charge the capacitor or something. What do i know i am not an electrician. I need some help guys!

first off, i would ignore the battery for now, that is just complicating things.
did you try it how i said to?

on this page it clearly states the colors on the rectifier

black goes to chassis ground, yellow goes to whatever lighting power you have from lighting coil...if you only have one wire try using just the one wire. not sure where you got your colors from

I think its just a lack of communication its hard to communicate over text. But if black is going to chasis ground and red is my only wire left what wire connects the led negative?

the led negative should go to chassis ground as well...
text is tough at times i agree. its all good, youre our vintage husky led guinea pig! or at least mine anyway!

Sweeet. Ok i will i just dont understand how led groud for a dc light goes to ground where ac also is but like i said i dontget these electronics haha

I tried like u said black wire grounded and i got dc current but only like 1.9 volts max how come? I tried the battery too for kicks andi doubt the motoplat has enough juice to charge it its voltage inly raised a tenth if that. Idk where to go to now

thats at idle or with the bike revved up? is it possible the meter is messed up? have you tried the light?

The meter is probably meesed up its a long story hah. But yes i tried reving it and it didnt seem to go up with volts. And no i didnt attemp the light since it needs 10 volts to even operate.

Try checking voltage between both yellow wires and see what you get .

typically i recommend when you are sorting out a problem, assume nothing
remove all your newly added accessories, unplug everything except the actual ignition
start the bike, using an AC voltmeter, check the voltage of the lighting coil (yellow wire), all by itself, no voltage regulator, no rectifier
you need to go back two squares and start fresh, if you have over 14 volts plug in the regulator and see what you have, if it is within range you might have a bad rectifier
a rectifier is really nothing but a one way valve in an attempt to take half the sine wave out of AC to create DC power, that being said with a ground wire a defective electrical device could fail, my guess is it came from China, they have no quality control so it might be bad out of the box

Exactly. Guessing leads to releasing the magic smoke. You need to know what your doing and what wire is for what or you'll just be burning stuff up. Start from scratch. AC and output OK? Then go to the next step.

Ive already tested the yellow wire from the motoplat weeks ago. It gets 3 volts AC at idle and raises to like ten when u rev it but i bet it be twelve with steady acceleration

I tested my motoplat like this but it was years ago and I do not remember the numbers but I know they were very low numbers like yours. The motoplat will not produce enough voltage and amps that you need to power the led light you have. You would have to go use SEM.

What ignition will i need out power my 30 watt led? What specific model that outputs enough volts.

Well there is your issue, not enough output. Rectifying it to DC cuts it in half too.

Then how come people before said it would work somehow. People have asked me the same questions over and over. But I havent got anywhere and now it seems I have wasted my money.
