I like the flashlight idea but I really want to try and utilize the motoplat lighting.

No, This light I think is too big for a dirt bike.
It is really a ridiculous show off light.
It amazes 100% of the people that have seen it in person.
Actually the stock 3000 lumen light in the first picture also amazes 100% of the people that have seen it in person.

to the o.p., i think the answer to lighting with a motoplat is a a rectifier for dc output and led lighting. baja designs and other places sell an affordable regulator/rectifier.

Thank you all so much. I have seen those exact rectifiers on ebay before. I will purchase one and report back with how the leds work.

awesome, i have been playing around with this in my head for quite awhile now...i have a bunch of light and headlight shells....but i honestly have no reason for a light, other than being seen on 2way trails. let us know how it works!

Update: hi all. Just did a mass ebay order. I ordered my regulator rectifier, and a 30 watt 9 inch led bar along with headlight brackets, and switches. I decided to go with a small battery setup so I dont get light drop when Im at idle. I went with a small 12v 2000 mah NiMh pack to power the light then the motoplat should keep the battery topped off all the time with the rectified DC. I will update more when I get these parts in a few days. Also made a homemade cutting board skid plate. Turned out good if anyone is interested. Tons of pics to come.

Cardboard template for cutting board skid plate. Used a jigsaw and it cut it like butter. By the way, the wiring is all exposed because I stripped the housing so I can rig my lights. 20150419_131117.jpg 20150419_131126.jpg 20150419_132227.jpg 20150419_133928.jpg

We heated the board to bend it just a bit. Then fitted it rough with zip ties. Then I trimmed it smooth and used metal hose clamps and tightened them so it aint goin no where. Gave pretty decent coverage and the pipe coming down with its existing thick metal guard meets the plate and covers the whole underside. Will update more when I recieve my light components. 20150419_134738.jpg 20150419_170809.jpg 20150420_132434.jpg 20150420_194230.jpg

Im pretty happy with it. Cheap and probably pretty damn durable. I ride in rocky terrain and felt like I was asking for trouble without a skid, so Im stoked. 20150420_194239.jpg 20150420_194251.jpg

Do yourself a favor and dump the stock foot pegs. HVA, Husqvarna-parts and a couple other internet retailers specializing in huskies have nice options. You can find HVA foot pegs on eBay or at DCVMX here in the U.S.
