Much would depend on design/cost, but mainly design functionality. Is there one in the pipeline? Is this a poll for a possible group buy. Sorry i'm not really up on this one.

    Coffee,
How about a top rack only choice on the questionaire? I would buy for sure. I have Trax bags and mounts and would only need a rear rack....

I'll be in for one if I can afford it. (2 kids in college and one on the way)
I just installed BR's racks and they are great!
The proto type rack looks fantastic!

I think I would by one. I'd like to put a smallish Pelican atop it and a skinny dry bag in front.

Cost is a factor, yes. But I'm taking into account the service, quality, and reasonable price for the side racks. Add to that the market for this is limited to follow up customers who already bought the side racks, or are buying those as well, and I'm betting we see a competitively priced product of exceptional quality and it's going to look good to boot.

    • Rotopax ready

Seriously a well engineered and robust rack but the last thing the terra needs (for my needs only) is more weight. I'm a soft bag kinda guy anyways. I don't like busting hard cases if the bike is dropped or scrapes a tree on the trail.

Not sure if you are referring to the top rack only or not. But at least some people have reported things going badly with soft side bags without side racks. And there has been at least 1 report of the OEM rear rack breaking with as little as 1 rotopax mounted on it - not sure how often the % of breaking is though, you 650 people tend to ride a *lot* of miles.

We do ride a lot of miles and I love how that's already a universal thing. I'm referring to a giant loop set up (no racks required) but that's a completely different thread, just wanted to voice why I voted for what on the poll so there was both sides of the fence represented.

I will buy one. I all ready have the side racks and I just don't trust the OEM plastic rack with a load and a rough road

It would be helpful to have a link to the pictures or embed them in this thread. I found the pictures. for me, I would prefer that the edges of the rack bent down. Less chance of getting a leg damaged by the edge in a get off.

Has anybody actually seen one breaking ? Or 'we just believe so' ? Cause PE with 50% glass-fiber is very durable, yet elastic enough not to break. I was just thinking whether we all just exaggerate...

Yeah, they've failed in the wild...

The utility of a heavier duty rack like this BRmoto one, or the one RE is building for himself would be worth it in my opinion, even if the stock one wasn't a weak point. It has all the weight hanging back behind the bolts, so it's bouncing quite a bit with any load at all on it. I have no doubt the material would be durable enough if it had a rear support down to the sub frame.
