....I kinda meant go to the races and talk to the racers.

also- is the airport you're talking about the one up by Chalk Bluffs?

Nope. It's at New Airport Road in Auburn. Literally 2.4 miles from my house.

well, that map/website that Eaglefreek posted says the Nevada County Air Park sells 100 octane alcohol-free gas... and it's pretty much on your way to Chalk Bluff (don't take the road to You Bet, IOW). so there you go- a win-win.

my buddy just recently moved from Chicago Park to a place above Scott Flat Reservoir- so I imagine we'll go into Burlington from that side from now on.

Click the details link. That, too, is 100LL AvGas.

What town do you live in?

100LL isn't gonna work for you?

Yes, that'll work, that's what this thread is about. But we've come full circle. How to get past the tail number requirement? I'll just make one up and see if that work. For me, I can just go over to airport near my house and get my gas.

There is no tail number "requirement". It's for post-crash fuel contamination check by the NTSB and FAA.

    You're cool.

Try "N8238D" which is the N number of a 1980 Piper Saratoga PA32-301T that I (sort-of) owned in 1982. Hell of a plane...

thanks- but take it with a grain of salt... that's speculation.

OTOH, if you crash on your bike running avgas I betcha the NTSB will definitely find it was caused by "pilot error" ...like every accident they have ever investigated.

By requirement I mean that you cannot proceed with pumping the AvGas without entering something at the pump. That's all. In the end, I just wasn't sure if making something up would work. Or if I used an "observed" nearby tail number, would I get anyone in trouble. Sounds like it's not going to really track much info.

Don't sweat it. I just tried the helo #. I was more worried about what I looked like wandering across the ramp with a gas can in hand. A pilot friend told me not to worry because it's very common for people to walk up to the pumps and take gas back to their hangar.

Beautiful town. The wife and I wanted to move there years ago. My buddy just renovated and opened up The Hall restaurant and bar in Mcloud recently.

Just went (a few weeks ago0 to the local airport flight services vendor. I walked in and asked about 100LL and they said how much do you want? I told them 5 gallons. They collected the money and asked where I was parked. I told them out front. They told me to get the can and they would bring the truck around.
They filled my can with the fuel and I left. No problems, no questions.
I paid $26 for 5 gallons. Funny thing is the local MX track which is across the street will gladly sell you a 5 gallon can of VP T4 (100 octane... no lead... no ethanol) for $75.
The only thing is I can't use the 100LL in my newer bikes with cats which run fine on pump gas.

I've never had problems with pump gas in fuel injected bikes.
I also wasn't having any problems with the 2 stroke once it was running. Problem was that the lectron float valve was sticking in the closed position when the bike sat for a week.
Sounds like you live in a state very similar to CA, and I am sorry for that. $75 for race gas and no way to buy it at a pump where it might be more competitively priced. Heck, all I really want is what my manual says to run, which is 95 RON unleaded. And, although it says E10 is okay, I'd like to use non-ethanol gas. The ethanol is what's causing the carb to stick. But god forbid you want to do anything beyond what the regulators think you should be doing in this state.

95 RON is like our 91-92 R+M/2 (or hell- like our 89?) IIRC.

sounds like in your other thread you got ethanol-free gas? congrats.

When I looked it up 95 RON is closer to our 91 that it was to 89 here in the states so that's what I was using. And yes, I've been able to get avgas at the local air port. With the red motorex it makes purple gas. LOL!
