Did you have one of those UpTite pipes with the longer cone or something?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong (I often am), but I would refer to the power of the '86 as linear right up to this little blip where the power triples and the bike tries to rip your arms out of their sockets for half a second, then the rush sets in and makes you keep shifting and riding the band until you can't any more due to limitations of skill, space, or outright fear.
That bike is a ton of fun, but in my book, one thing it does better than anything else is find the far end of a straight-away faster, a hell of a lot faster, than you thought it was going to.

I might be exaggerating a tad. But the pop into the power band isn't really 'linear' in my book.

its all relative i suppose..linear compared to a lot of other big bores or something with a powervalve...i mean it is a two stroke so there is a little surge with rpm. almost all husqvarnas are pretty tractable to a degree.

With my '98 wr 250 Husqvarna when the popcorn sound in the pipe gets more intense you know the front wheel is coming up next. That's the power valve opening up. Nothing wrong with the 400wrx I liked mine. It's probably one of the best combinations that Husqvarna ever built/designed. Next to the 390cc and 430cc engines.

Hi guys, i posted on another thread also but wanted to ask here . I had a downloaded workshop manual from on line but (shows mechanics only) it doesn't show the electronics. Does anyone have a good PDF or link to a downloadable workshop manual that shows how the electronics are attached to the frame/engine and bars . Most of the loom is in one piece but i would be more comfortable with a diagram or visual to follow. I can supply my email if anyone would prefer to email me a link or their own PDF (would be most grateful). Thanks all.

That's a reason to own a 400! Grass track mayhem.
Maybe my clutch is still slipping. I took the clutch cover of after riding it with a new clutch and springs installed. My water pump seal was leaking-epoxy soft around the seal. Put in a new seal and re-epoxied, waiting for an outer o ring and sealed bearing to re-assemble. I'll try different oil too.

xr rider was an aussie safari winner x2 for Honda in the 250 class...rocket rod hinton...if you watch the next harrow clip he bites the dirt....Only time ive ever passed him.....oh, wait...I passed once before at a Vinduro....He was riding a stock standard (bridgestone trailwings) SL125... Yep I passed him all right...on my WR400!! (I had to have a little rest after that) Rod went on to record 23 laps of that course, pissing of a hot mxer who had recorded 21 laps on his 1990 YZ...suck on that BUDDY... was a good presentation that one:D:lol:

Nice sounding bike Suprize! So I tried to ride the 400 Sunday after installing the new bearing and o-ring. I've lost the kickstart pawl spring. No wonder it wouldn't kick over. I'll try to source one locally.
