Oh and I just tried resetting the air screw to 2.5 turns out...I had it at 3...so its back in its "Range"

Got plenty of fuel in the tank....

    Did my fuel pump die?

You must have loosened some wires during the airbox removal?? They probably only came fully out from engine vibration??

Can you explain the safety part to me? Do you mean for safety during the procedure or for after when everything is hooked back up and under normal operation?

I've done this myself. Drove me crazy till I found the wires to the coil were loose and vibrated out.

Hope you still end up "huskyluv"

yes it is most likely a wiring loom joiner has separated - happened to me and the clip retainer tag had actually snapped of - now has a cable tie to hold it from coming apart again

umm so. It started after it charged for a bit and seems okay. Maybe the battery was low then it got flooded or something....

Side note now my quickshifter wont fit at all. AT ALLLLLLL. So that is making me huskygiveup after the issue with the back warp 9 wheel....then my breather kit didn't fit because of the angle I welded my pcv auto tune sensor. UGH!

    I need beer.

Very odd Huskylove. My own bike would not start at times (before mods) with the old lead/acid battery, it sounded normal cranking, but found out it had been very slow after I got the Lithium battery. I imagine it was too low for the ECU to let it start.

same happend to me. I removed the FBW flap and started. Bike died and i had a hard time to start again. I recharged my battery and did TPS calibration. Then everything was good.
And i am happy with it now.

Just a thought for you guys with the newer (not 2011) bikes, while you are doing efi work you would need to make sure the 'run switch' is off (same as ignition switch on older bikes).
Possible the system is getting 'confused' if the 2nd shaft moves while removing screws & the system is 'live'.

Sounds like 9880sts worked well with a tps reset.

    I don't have a '12 or '13 bike to test so just a theory.

    Tinken is not convinced.

I do doubt that mid to top range power will be increased through the FBW butterfly removal - how about someone do a before and after dyno comparison

Correct, I don't see how full power would be better at all.
If the original system opens up the top butterfly properly at full cry, then they should be the same.

It is the rideability at the other throttle settings that improved out of sight, including mid range.
Dunno about you guys, but I'm not a full-house racer, I can't hold it wide all the time where we ride.
I do like my bike to 'snap' to attention when I get on the gas though, it does this now.

Also, & I mean this with the greatest of respect, Tinken isn't riding my bike.

Sorry, I meant it will better seal the rubber boot / tube to the airbox. Less to no dirt can get in there now.

I was installing a new fuel pump, and heat wrapping some wiring, kept thinking about this so, I disconnected
The battery and removed the secondary flap. Should be able to give it a go on friday/saturday.

Thinking about it (a lot obviously) I reckon the idea was to reduce the effective size of the throttle body at lower rpm & have it open up at high revs for maximum flow, a kind of have your cake & eat it too arrangement.
Just it doesn't always work on every bike....I reckon there are a few 'Monday' bikes like mine =(
What are they, 46mm throttle body or something? It is a huge port for a 450.
So I get what they were trying to do, but you have an injector, not carb & jets, good tuning of the maps should be able to conquer any dramas in the bottom end.

I can still tractor around in 1st on the original gearing, slipping the clutch & launching up rock faces without any surprises, then crack it & roost off down an open track. I'm loving it.

That may have been rhetorical. We'll see how the JD works on a longer ride this weekend. That might change my tune.
