I was the victim of a similar scenario 21 years ago, I had an XR600 which at the time was two years old, went for an afternoon ride with a good friend who had a KTM (sorry for swearing) 620, after riding a particular track, he says "Let's do that trail again, only swap bikes this time" it only took me a week to place a deposit on a brand new KTM620. Had it for 13 years, great bike (sorry for swearing) which never let me down once in over 35,000 kms, so rather than consider myself a "victim" I prefer the term "enlightened" to be back on Euro bikes, even if it wasn't a Husky!

Haven't been in the dark since, although I do have a DRZ400 for a farm bike, you know, for rounding up my cattle. :D

one of the main reasons for certain lesser brands to sell better is rider sponsorship
Suzuki and Yamaha took the top riders in the day
not it's more level but the second reason comes into play ADVERTISING

Well look what arrived in the mail on Monday!

I must commend Andre on being a man of his word, a quality I value highly. Yes I was initially disappointed, thinking that I may have been short changed which is all too common these days, I will happily eat my words and give a very high recommendation to Andre Horvath for his honesty and service.
    Tony.

Minor update. New decals, seat cover to come along with rear fender and tail light.
"400" decal and "ENDURO" decal will be fitted as well, ran out of time today.

It runs great! I have completed three Vinduro events this year and can't wait until next season, the biggest limiting factor with this bike is its rider! I can't believe how much slower I've become in my late 50's, maybe more time on the bike is needed?

something i cant believe is how you havent been filling us in on this bikes progress!
well, im only 34 so i cant comment on the 50s thing yet but the 87-88 chassis is a good one. im sure you will get it dialed in a bit. the 250 engine is probably faster in alot of ways im sure. the 400/430 is fun tho! you can use the power to your advantage in alot of ways but im starting to miss my stroker 250..

You are correct, I have been posting but not in this thread, I put up a short video of the Braidwood Vinduro, a slow lap following a friend on his 1982 XR250. I thought I'd try picture in picture, one camera facing forward, one looking behind, it took some synchronising but turned out alright considering my computer skills.

Thanks for the kind words, it's early days for me and cameras on helmets, some fine tuning to do yet.
I hope to dial in the forks a little better, very happy with the rear suspension, it currently has a DRZ400 front wheel and front brakes so it pulls up pretty good considering it is drum rear, but that motor.......it makes usable power from stupid low revs and just builds and builds from there, so linear until it is in the upper rev range.
Thinking about a Lectron in the not too distant future, I keep reading good feedback on them.

Small update, I fitted the Up-Tite pipe again only this time with the standard long muffler instead of the cut down part that came on the bike.
    Brilliant!
Last time I fitted this pipe with the shortened muffler it made for a very snappy bottom end and signed off very early, this time it has transformed the way this bike rides! Waayyy more midrange and has plenty left in the upper rev range.
I am amazed at the difference this muffler/pipe combo has made.

Yes that helps, & don't forget to work on yourself too, I've been running around the block with my dog
after work & noticed a big difference in my riding, & I'm 56.

get the pushy out aj, lifts your cardio enormously for small effort and time wise. make a little loop somewhere and try to get around it twice a week. even if its up and down your driveway every nite.
