• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ZipTy Racing X-Lite model clutch bushing mod.

robertaccio

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Due to riding/racing I have been holding off on doing this ZipTy recommended mod. I have noticed that my clutch is still jerky especially while cold (not hot). Also its been noisy and rattley(?) while unloaded.

Yesterday I finally pulled my clutch basket and found that there was quite abit of cushion bushing play from the backing plate/gear to the basket. Easily a 1/4 IN of loose free play, thats alot!! It's going up to the ZipTy shop today.

Ty mentioned that the standard temps of the X-Lite engine are unusually high and this contributes to the hardening of these bushings. His mod uses the same shape and fit of the OEM pieces but uses a more heat resistant material for them. He will drill out the rivets install new bushings and reinstall the backing plate after drilling and tapping the original rivet holes with locktited screws.

Also I forgot, my basket fingers do have some clutch plate notching in them. I asked ZipTy to assess this and let me know what they think. ( I have filed many baskets in the past)

Now that you have put some time on this how is it holding up?

It must be working just fine because Mr Rob who just moved up to A class took me to class and showed me the way last weeken
His 310 4 stroke spanked my Cr 300 Ohliens suspended 2 stroke in the tight trees of the Ranch track. At the Johnny Cambell Classic race
Hope he comes to the first National where i might get a chance to redeam myself

The clutch is perfect! smooth as glass and just fine.
3 races 3 weekends in a row, Tecate HS P3 50A, JCR GP P4 50A, Tecate BORCS XC P1 50 open, P3 OA.
John those tight trails are my home field advantage that 90% of what we ride, I don't think I have too much of a chance to keep you at bay in your dez home field, unless the entire race is single track rocky and technical (which it won't be)......

YaY! Go Zip-Ty! Ty Davis is a genius when it comes to engineering modifications to engines and chassis. He even designs and manufactures parts for Racetech.
Good to see your clutch is working flawlessly Robert

Will this mod work on the rekluse core exp ? My11te250 with the rekluse squeels & squawls alot in the slow tight stuff, even after i adjust freeplay gain at one turn plus two ticks. Also wondering if a after market head pipe & exhaust would reduce the massive engine braking on this machine? THANKS for any and all replys:)

I think rekluse has a fix for that. Oil flow issue maybe? Call them. The Ty thing cant hurt though.

Massive engine breaking/wheel hop can be solved by judicious use of the clutch as a finger operated slipper clutch.
As for rekluse stuff do what Motosportz said call them they are very responsive.
The Ty rebuild/mod is for the clutch backing gear plate cush/bushings replacement. mine had almost 1/4 of rattly free play there should be zero free play.

Thanks, You make the clutch sound delicious ! I called rekluse today and they do have a update for the clutch. Its a adjustable slave cylinder cover, you can adjust the clutch without taking the cover off ! Also gives you the option of bump starting the bike with a few clicks of a screw driver and back again for auto clutch man that is way cool...! The rekluse clutch basket looks nice to with the heavy duty dampers but for 250.00 the zipty clutch mod seems the way to go. Will make a nice CHRISTMAS present for my husky filly don't you think ? :)
