  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st What did you do to your Husky today?

Lol no it grips fine, I've got the black boot to cover the knuckle, she works just fine it's shorter than stock so misses the foot peg when kicking over.
I like rough looking, if it's mechanically sound I'm happy I don't care about looking good.

Nah no offence taken, never will be any either as you are all entitled to your opinions!

Ha u seen my bikes juicy help together with zip ties n tape as long as motor/running gear good I'm happy.

As long as ya weld holds up n the shaft don't shit itself that thing will never break! Does it have the ball indent to retain it so doesn't swing out mid ride or us it jus firm enough that it stays put?

Curious as to how hard n expensive it would be to get a kicker sand cast outta steel? I don't mind the kicker style itself jus shits me how it hits the peg teeth n chews out the kicker. I'm on my second kicker(fine for 265 hours no complaints) but this one is half worn thru the tip wher ya foot contacts n will snap sooner rather than later! Make me one outta Ti juicy

I used two 6mm plates with hole drilled through then then the hex goes down through top and is welded and down through bottom an is welded.
The shaft will break before that kicker fails, yes I drilled the 7mm hole for bb then tapped it m8 put bearing and spring loc tighter the m8 and cut it off flush.

With the boot on and my lovely MIG stainless welding can't be seen I looks good.
The hex flats provide the grip so far no issues.

You provide the Ti an I will give it a go.
as the stainless hex is twice the weight of Ali one.

I have a sheet of fine stainless mesh for front but yes my guards are for side impact.
Will post pics of my old rads you will see how good I am at throwing my bike down hard, like a temper tantrum toddler.

P.s. that's the rad I mashedIMG_20161002_103451066.jpg
This is how the guards look on the bike, I'm fairly pleased the cross braces came out in the right place for the air to flow through the vents in tank. IMG_20161002_103415126.jpg

Well, I thought I could get by without race gas, but recently the local distributor for the non-ethanol fuel got busted because it actually tested as 90 octane, not 93! Then one of the local stations got a contaminated batch and I guess it's all going to court now
Now the station I like has a different distributor, but it's still only 90 octane. Now that I've put some Sunoco 110 in the mix I see what I've been missing, probably all along to some degree.

Now to dbl check my squish and get Meister Walt to set me up for 98 octane
that sucks..good they were busted tho. i ve been cutting my fuel 50/50 91 pure gas and 110 vp leaded...the bikes run great on it..combined with the klotz smells amazing...my garage, bikes and gear all smell great!

Trying some different engine oil in the 165 too. I've been using Mob1 0-40, but feeling like the 165 wants something else. First up, me old standby from my Team Honda days, Pro Honda HP Trans. It's full synthetic, pretty good, but after the 5-6 hour mark could feel shifting get a little notchy an hour or so into the ride. Changed it out today after 8 hours with Rotella T5 10-40w just to see if I notice any differences with a synthetic blend oil. More later...

Well 200 hours ain't bad, you must have been doing some maintenance. My plan is to do swingarm/linkage maintenance at each tire change, but skipped it last time on the 165. Been fine tuning the suspenders and noticed a rubbing sound from the rear last week. Found a rusty swingarm bearing :( Last time it was the bottom shock bearing.
Not too bad, cleaned up and repacked with Belray waterproof grease. Ordering the the whole bearing kit soon though.
My 165 has @ 150 hours on the chassis.

the t5 is not jaso rated and may slip. the t4 white jug and t6 blue jug are jaso rated..the gray jug is supposed to be a slipper tho. white is straight conventional and blue is synthetic. ...i love the t6..lasts and works as well as anything

That bottom shock bush just seems to be a magnet for dirt and water,I Grease it every ride, bit of emery paper and Belray and you can make them last for ages.
