• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

  • What: West Coast Gathering. Ride, have fun, plan trails, burn in trails, etc.
  • When: Thursday May 16th through Sunday May 19th - key date for those that only want to come for 1 day would be Saturday May 18th.
  • Who: please post up and let us know. :)
  • Why: have fun!
  • Where: About 1/2 hour from Napa CA, or about 1/2 hour from Winters CA, or about a 1/2 hour from Vacaville CA. Exact directions will be sent to those who can make it.
  • WARNING: there are ample amounts of poison oak at this location... if that makes a difference to you. Though it can be easily avoided with some care.
This could be that last ride here until next spring, not sure. It will soon dry out here and then it would not be as much fun.

About the CH Corporate Facility:
  • This area is absolutely *epic* for dual sporting & road bikes
  • Ample camping available all over this place - toy haulers, motor homes, tents, it's all good.
  • It is not really that large... 100 acres? But it does have adequate elevation changes to make it interesting... and if there was 1 word to describe this place it would be 'loam'.
  • There are not really any trails per se yet... you get to pick where to put them.
  • Because of the above mentioned poison oak, it may be more practical to wear old clothes which can be washed instead of riding clothes, at least that is what I do occasionally.
  • For those who want to just take a flight here, use Sacramento Airport. Accommodations can be made - Start a Conversation (PM) with me and let me know if you are interested.
  • Feel free to bring a fishing pole

Sorry can't make it. I have a Century (100) miles bicycle event to ride on the 18th.

Hope to make it have see how work schedule is
Sounds like a lot of fun
Did you get your tractor going?

Yes. All the major equipment is operational at this time, including the dozer.

Thinking about where to put those jumps... :D

Steps-up always look cool ESP if you can clear the top of some hill ...

Dozer? Who is gonna drive that and post some pics, OK?

I'm thinking of arriving late Friday night for the Saturday rides. Will you or somebody be leading them?

Sounds great. :)
There is no official trail system as of yet... but wish there were. I am sure someone will be showing people around the place, depends who shows up.

If you are driving up, maybe car pool with other so cal people? I've been trying to get this guy to come up for a while now.

We have all the tools we could possibly need - unless you want to bring an excavator..

This thread has been up a couple of weeks, and the event is in about 2 weeks. To hopefully draw more attention for the local riders to the event I added 'Napa CA' to the title.

Life is short, riding is fun. :)

Put this in the general or diner section as well. I never even knew this existed because I never even thought to check the regional area. I check 6 forums on the site very regularly, but never once checked the regional until you directed me to it. Some people might not even know about it! :)

Do you ever use the "Whats New" button?
