• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Utah: Riding In The Land Of Rocks And Sand

They sure do. If I was in charge of Husky advertising I would pay them to do adventure touring documentaries and air a weekly segment on prime time TV. Kind of like a Marlin Perkins meets motorcycling.

Ha.. that's a cool idea, Big Guy. I'm not a huge "reality TV" freak but that is one that I would definitely tune in to.
Fabulous adventure as always, Tammi, life just don't get much better than that and you two are livin' the dream.

Yeah, the Saharas have been way better than I thought they would be. The rear doesn't have a lot of bite on the pavement and it's pretty slidey but the front seems good so no problems there.

The suspension is rough for me. I just saw 118lbs on the scale last night (first time in 20 years :applause:) and I'm afraid the engineers did not have me in mind when suspending this thing. It's good enough for the riding I've been doing with it, and I do like the suspension rather stiff when hustling on pavement, but I'd like to re-spring it at some point. I'm pretty much on one tippy-toe when coming to a stop on flat pavement. I look like a total dork :o

118 (and congratulations) sounds awfully light for a suspension to deal with ... You could try removing some oil to take some of the stiffness away from forks .. Thats easiest if you have time and works OK on my bikes ...

As far as it being slim and trim? Well, if you're comparing it to my SV650 then maybe  It's a big, tall, top-heavy pig compared to my svelte 610. It's all relative, I guess. When I'm riding it it feels great. When I'm pushing it around the back yard or pushing it up the driveway it feels incredibly heavy.

News to me on that 610 ... I'm a 250cc guy :). This 610 is the bike that has over 100,000 miles? ...

I did just meet a guy over here who has a 610 up around Manila so I might get a chance to ride one ...

I had the subframe fixed and beefed up, including the holes where the bolts were. I can now use bigger and beefier bolts. My welder guy did a fantastic job on it. We brought it home, Eric immediately took his subframe off and we took it down for a beefing up, too. The guy does fantastic work. I'm in trouble if he retires before I quit riding and breaking stuff :busted:

Inlines and that's all aluminum back there on that subframe, hard to weld for many but for the ones that can weld it, can bring it back better than new ...I could have used a Sahara today in the big wet rocky climbs I was riding today instead of the half-worn out knobby ...

--
If you ever decide to shorten those big big loops around different states, you might wanna consider a 310cc Husky machine :) ...

No, ray-ray! When I said it was a big top-heavy pig I was talking about the 650! Not the 610! And that's only in comparison to the SV650. I love the 650...and I love the +22k mile 610

And I know someone that might be selling a TE310. I'm finding it hard to resist! What I really want is a 449, though.

And I love the idea of getting paid to ride around and look at new stuff on my Husqvarnas!
You guys are going to make that happen for me...right? :D

Ur so cool!

No, you are!

When are you going to join us on a ride? Hopefully before I'm too old to ride...:oldman:
Still want to in the worst way. I missed the spring ride, your birthday and it's getting pretty hot down yonder is it not?
BTW, I'll get too old way before you Woodschick...
I miss you guys.

Same to you but more of it! And yes, mighty frikkin' hot down yonder. That area is out until the fall, for sure.

I caught this thread on "what's new?" and it was an awesome read. Better than any crap on TV. I read the whole thing and could not wait to share with my Harley riding wife. She loved the pictures and the wit! Thanks for the excellent report!:applause::cheers:

Thanks, TE! Glad you and your wife enjoyed it  It was a super-fun time for us and I had a blast reliving it when doing the ride report.
We went last year, too, and did some different stuff. Here's a link to the ride report if you've got any attention span left to spare
