  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Turning a WR250 into a WR300?

So is the plan to run up Friday, pick up the bike, then come back Saturday with no riding?

(think I am more excited than Eric might be :) )

That's sort of the plan. We're leaving tonight, plan on being at the shop no later than 10am, then try to be in the Ashland/Medford/GP area in order to make it to a sportsbar by 4pm to watch the game, then drive, sleep and drive :D

In other words, your sleeping with the bike, right?

Watching the game on the bike?

Keep looking at the bike on the trip home? You'll have a stiff neck!

Almost home! Be careful!

Oh, forgot! when you stop to eat, make sure you can see it out the resturant window! Makes the meal more enjoyable!

Stop at the Black Bear Diner in Medford and get the South of the Border omelet. It's ridiculously good! Way better than they make it here in Beaverton or Bend. That's my only advice.

Besides...have fun and be safe!

I remember when WC got her wr125 and she had it on the trailer when we met at a restaurant somewhere, that is exactly what happened. I kept staring at it out the window.

Hey Twin,

While you are up there tomorrow ask Bill to show you my latest transgression. But don't you dare change the shipping address. :D

 I see you've done this before :D

Nothing better than a new motorcycle, that's for sure!

Mmm...Black Bear Diner! They have good food  Any chance of seeing you at the shop tomorrow? We're going to try to be out of there by noon.

It sure is a shame you guys don't have time to ride......

That's it; keep rubbing it in, buddy
Eric just said "We'd have time for a ride if it wasn't for the World Series..." I said "Too bad, I got all year to ride and only a few days to watch the World Series!" :)

Yeah, the Huskys sure are pretty, aren't they? The best looking bikes in town, for sure.

Ooh! What is it? You live in Oakland now, right?

OK, kids, take care of the place while I'm gone and don't burn the house down!

It's about time "SleepyChick".. Congrats and cheers to you both..

Thanks! We had a great time even though it was a really rushed trip.
We got back about 10 this morning. We left Friday night at 6:40pm, stopped for dinner at the Black Bear Diner, drove til 1:30am and spent the night at Rogue River State Park outside of Grants Pass. Got up at 5am and made it to Salem by 9:30am. Spent 3 hours at the shop picking up Eric's new bike and shooting the breeze with Bill and Lonny (OregonSage)...it was great to meet you both! That shop is like Disneyland for us Husky enthusiasts...

This little gem was bound for Montana or somewhere, but I thought it was gorgeous and, well, cash in hand talks...:D
P1020782.jpg

There was even something for those crazy vintage guys...
P1020787.jpg

I finally found a bike that fits me!

(that's Lamson's old bike in the background...)

I really enjoyed hanging out and talking with Lonny...

I could sit around all day talking Bill...and I almost did!

We finally left the shop at 12:30pm, loaded down with parts, tires, stickers, a sweatshirt, and one really sweet bike...

We headed for a sports bar in Ashland to watch the World Series. We were tired, though, and I didn't feel like sitting in a noisy sports bar for 3+ hours. Plus, we were starving so we'd stopped and gotten burgers and wouldn't have wanted to order food at the bar/grill/pub anyway. I wanted to stop at a motel, get a pizza and watch the game in bed, and then get some sleep before driving home early Sunday morning. Eric was totally against the idea. He wanted to just drive straight through after the game.

:D

We plopped down on the bed right as the 2nd inning was starting! Woo-hoo! Felt good to get out of the van. Eric was just beginning to think my idea was a grand one when the delivery guy showed up with this...

Ahh...life is good...
P1020800.jpg

As if I wasn't looking pretty smart already, the pool was 98 degrees and the hot tub was 104...liquid heaven!
P1020804.jpg

Yeah, now who thinks it's a good idea to drive straight home after 3 1/2 hours of sleep? Not this guy...
P1020811.jpg

Deep sleep found us at 9pm and we got up at 3am very well rested and refreshed. We hit the Dutch drive-through coffee place at 3:30am and had our mochas made by Lady Gaga himself...

This guy was an absolute riot! It was only 3:30am and our day was made already  He filled out one of those "buy 10 get 1 free" cards so we could get another cup once we got to Redding.

We blasted home non-stop with no traffic and no nodding off behind the wheel. Needless to say, Eric now recognizes me for the genius I've always been. And now Eric has a new bike after 1230 miles, 3 tanks of gas and 22 hours of driving! It was a great road trip, especially considering we were only gone from home for 39 hours and 20 minutes

WoodsChick

And I was worried that you may have missed part of the game and/or you would need to sit in a noisy bar to watch it.

Well done. :)

Well thanks for including us on your trip..

I would make other nice comments.. But your ego is way inflated already.. Hopefully you are equipped with a schrader valve..

And Eric can help us here by deflating you.. Maybe just a little bit.. :D

Well....I am speechless, or at least I don't have one prepared.

What? You speechless?? That's almost as absurd as me being speechless! Fly on up here if you get a chance. We now have a few Huskys to choose from :)

Nope, so schrader valves here  I'm uninflatable :busted:
It's just that Eric gets these ridiculous ideas and won't listen to to reason. He usually agrees that I had the better idea after the fact, though :p He was totally digging the pizza, the bed and the pool/hot tub :D
