• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trying To Update An 87 Xc Brakes And Suspension

A Class
I have 3 87 430s. 1 WR and 2 XCs. I’m in the process of building the 1st XC. I have a 90s te410 swing arm on it so I can use the disc brakes with the te wheel. If I put the TE triple clamps and forks on it will it fit?? Trying to find a thread on it but not having any luck.

the forks will likely fit...just have to watch the steering lock stops...the italian bikes have different ones than the swede, and you may have to weld up something.

which 90's is important, tried to do some swapping myself and found different steering stem bearings

the 90-91 bikes are oddball..still have cagiva 80s size bearings. 92 and up are "standard", i think

I ended up buying another 87 this one is a cr with the WP forks. I’m going to use that set up and try to get the TE 410 rear disc brakes to work

on the disc in the rear, the 410 are you using just the wheel or attempting to graft the swingarm

I've been down this road, couple of problems, the linkage does not line up with the shock and if it did the ratios might not be optimal for the Ohlins
a 1990 4 stroke bolts right on, uses the same linkage and shock, the linkage numbers are the same as the 87 you are modifying
another option is to bore out the axle holes in your swingarm and weld on a brake stay

Well if you have already done the homework it looks like that’s what I need to do. I have a te 410 swing arm. Year unknown. Will any 90 4 stroke swing arm work? Use the same wheel from said bike for the brake components?

it was not a recent thing
digging through my memory banks, I recall the rear wheel I used was a 92 610
the 1989 4 stroke was a blend of Cagiva parts to a Swedish bike
they added the rear disc while maintaining the basic chassis
if you look at a Husky fiche you are looking for any year that shared the 87 linkage
they updated the whole bike in 92 and it worked as they won a championship with it

I ended up getting referred to Works Enduro Rider by a very knowledgeable guy from a Facebook group and ended up sending my Ohlins shock in for a re valve and a new spring.

Mine are all 81/82, but they take the 45mm Marzocchi swap as a direct bolt on. Here's one I have with complete 2004 front, wheel, axle, brake, forks, triples, stem, bearings. And please don't be critical of my "beautiful ugly duckling." My bikes get ridden.

What calipers bolt to those? Is the axle size the same? So many questions
I think most 2010-2014 italian husky caliper will bolt up also the Axle is the same diameter. The Aprilia used a nissin caliper and would not bolt up to my Husky. the bolt pattern is the same but the clearance between the rotor and fork leg is tight by about 1/8-3/16"

Here's my 86 430ae with 87 plastic, 430xc motor with a 2014 front end off my 300 and other modern mods

Plan is for my 86 430ae to use Aprilia 2007 RXV450 45mm Forks, clamps, caliper and rotor, a 2013 Husky axle and hub

On my 87 430wr I'm using a set of 2007 Aprilia SXV450 forks, front wheel 17x3.5 and handle bars. The Supermoto forks use a different lower clamp the top clamp is same a RXV. The SXV forks fit my 300's triples so I'm using a set of 2013 husky txc triple clamps, axle, With a brembo radial mount caliper and 320mm rotor.

Not easy to find, but also Solva forks can go on Husky '80 - This is a 46mm. with Solva triple clamps
