    Hello,
I'm restoring a 87 430 XC. I trying to do a WP 4054 fork swap. I have a 90 510 triple clamp to use. I have a set from a 87 CR to compare. The 90 has a smaller stem diameter then the 87. I have tried to use the bearings that came on the 90 but the bearing race doesn't fit the 430 frame. The bearing race from the 87 doesn't fit the 90 bearing. I have in the photos the 87 is on the left and the 90 is on the right. Has anyone had any luck doing this fork swap?

You can get most bearings like that from All Balls. You shop for the OD of the race that presses into the stem, the ID of the bearing that slides on the post, and the height of the bearing. All dimensions are in mm

It's seems this bearing is extremely hard to get.

How about swapping the stems ? That is what I usually do.

I tried but they are different size and won't fit.

Did you check All Balls because they have a better variety than bearing suppliers. If you want to swap stems sounds like you need to bore or sleeve one or the other. That is why I have access to metal machinery. You can't do custom fit without them most of the time.

Hey PhotoGuy... Been staring at Timken & All Balls Charts for my Cheney Husky 510 project... Looks like you need Inside-25mm... Outside-50.29mm... Width-14.22... The Timken L44610 should work... The stem difference is 25.0 to 25.4... I would epoxy and let cure the bottom race in place and make up the 0.4mm... You could also 1.jpg weld on the steer tube and then bench grind it down to 25.4mm... It is all squished together as you tighten it down... Ride it and see if it has moved... Don't think it will... Here is what my Cheney looks like except it will have a 510 Husky in it...

Looking forward to photos of the Husky Cheney. Love the Yamaha motor and the Cheney tank in your photo above. Very nice.

I love the Yamaha engine as well. That is why I have 3 of them. You can double the HP in them and still have a stone reliable engine.

I tried to change the forks on my 92 and had that problem
when I looked through the parts fiche I thought that was the only year
I remember looking at bearing dimensions with my head spinning
never resolved that and sold the 92
