• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Trials Bike thread.

Got out for a little trials riding yesterday with a good buddy. Bikes are an Ossa 280 and a new montessa 260 4 stroke. There's a mountain a few miles from the shop that supposedly has a trail up to the top. We went out searching for this trail but didn't have any luck. We did manage to make it to the top for some great views though. Got caught in a thunderstorm shortly after the first 2 pics and had to wait it out under a tree for a while. Ran out of gas on the way down and had to call for a ride. Sun went down just as we got off the mountain so we got to push the bikes a mile or so down a sandy wash in the dark. Finally got home about 11pm. Ended up being a 7 hour adventure and we never got more than 5 miles or so from the shop. Good times.

You may want to grab a 2l fuel can and strap it too the bike somewhere those trials tanks are crazy small.
Good fun by the look of it.

Ya, the montessa holds .5 gallons and the ossa about .7 Funny thing is this isn't the first time we've done this. Luckily we ride uphill from the truck so when we run out of fuel it's all downhill. haha.

so what ran out??? the 4t or the fancy EFI 2t

They both did. First the efi 4t then shortly after the efi 2t.
 
you guys are killing me-- my super trick Jordi Tarres developed 92 Beta Zero looks sooo freakin dinosaurish compared to all those "new" tech machines.
My crew which includes the ex-DD bike that MTn man Seth has now has, are all no older than 10 year old trials bikes. Mine is very close to ready just need to pick up my forks from Mike of Crow Performance Suspension (Race Tech) and final assembly will commence.
Our crew also has one of those cool OSSA bikes as well.
 
sound like you guys need to stash a few gas cans up on the mountain. 5 gallons would be a weeks worth of after work rides.

My buddy says the ossa is good for 28 miles, so we thought we would be good. We topped off before leaving the truck. That hill is mostly made up of very loose soil mixed with softball size rocks. So lots of spinning tires, clutching, pushing, work. We probably rode less than 10 miles, but the rear tire did 28 miles. haha.

Well I'm jealous of your dinosaur so just get out there and ride. Oh and bring your helmet helmet camers so we can see you eat shit lol
 
She's at 99% redone. the before(see above)and after photos...not too noticable, but I had a major dig in deep clean up and added alot of new chassis parts. forks are built up from from 2 sets to make one good set. Just checked no spark, need some minor troubleshoot, probably kill switch or some ignition on switch thing, this bike has all the street harness from EU, you can see the horn and tucked away is the full brake light harness etc. My assistant Mech/Tech Grandaughter.

Dude that a cool bike.... I've wanted to get another and probably will when I ome back from my leg.... I raced a HS on one about 10 years ago and did pretty good considering i had to stop for gas twice.... and I was tired from standing... lol

That thing will be fun on those trails by the border.....
 
latest i looked and saw ATF in the sight glass that was a little red still....so I dumped it. the drain plug mag was loaded with metal that definitly went through a gear or 2. Anyway I will leave it alone after doing a good clean and drain, also opened the clutch cover to help drain and inspect. I had to slot the drain plug because it was hex socket stripped so I will look for a replacement so shes not quite ready. And tonight we took a couple steps back. more time needed. still no spark. also removed flywheel cover and found evidence of water intrusion rust and other corrosion. and the gasket folded in , so we will pull the flywheel and check the stator/ pick up for corrosion and do a good ignition clean up.
 
Looks like a fun project, and someday a nice piece for the mancave. Ive got a Gas Gas TXT 125. Maybe someday i will figure out how to actually ride it. First the Buell thread. Now the trials bikes. Were is the 'who got a Ural' thread? I might even post a pic...
Tan and purple are a curious choice, but so is the chrome and yellow on mine.
 
Fingers crossed its just a bit of rust thats stopping the spark sand it back and start her up.
