Well I have taken the plunge and bought a JD FI TUNER. Would I be presumptuous to assume I can place my to BF back in...
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Do you have the top BF still in.I'm currently using a PCV but have used the JD Tuner before. I stated this before and I'll say it again the most noticeable power increase that I've experienced was after installing the JD Tuner. The only reason I switched
to the PCV was because I couldn't get rid of the flame out issues. It's definitely a nice and more economical mod with a nice power gain.

Well I bit the bullet and installed a JD TUNER power surge x6, the first thing I notice was the power increase.. not too shabby at all. The next thing I noticed was my fuel.consumption... ouch... Dead dry in 100klms. 104 to be exact, not too good... Has any one got some settings in Oz that works pretty good for power/economy.. and will I be able to put my butterfly back now...!!!

You can put the butterfly back in anytime i guess.
Depends if you want it to pull like a 450 down low or not, Entierly your choice.
Personally, if I wanted my bike to ride like a 250 down low & mid range, I would have bought a 250....
None of the tuner boxes control the second fly-by-wire throttle, so it will do exactly as it was programmed to do ex-factory & limit power in the low & mid ranges.
You will be able to make small improvements by trimming maps there, but ultimately will be held back by how much the FBW throttle will open.
Shoot Kelly a message for set-up of the JD - http://www.cafehusky.com/members/motosportz.3/
I don't believe that Jerry's 511 absolutely requires the butterfly mod to go like a 450, his system is higher flowing / has the pcv and may very well go better than yours. I was very capable of 61bhp with the butterfly in. Granted I have an extremely high flowing intake/exhaust, removing the butterfly was an absolute nightmare for me. Now with the TC tbi in and my new experimental early model TC450 ecu + pcv I am able to completely decimate the new factory race bikes. If you like your 450/477 to go like one, pull it out.
Thanx Cosmo, what type of economy do you get.. I was a bit amazed how much more fuel.mine sucked up...I wasn't riding any faster I know that !! Lol

Ha ha, when I messaged you last year about the possibility of fitting a different ECU you told me it couldn't be done
(And do I understand you had no idea if I was mechanical or not etc.)
Maybe what you should have said was 'It would be difficult to do'
So I set off on fixing what was there...great to hear it's working for you, sounds great.
As for the power, they do still make great top end power with the butterfly in, just not running to potential everywhere else.
Point is, you don't have to open up the motor to improve bottom & mid where most enduro riding is done....
