Just for the moment, you cannot beat the deal that Hall's has going on
Regina 520 o-ring (112 links only) which is the stock chain on some models: $49.99 ...weirdly, all other shorter and longer lengths of the same chain were over $100. Regina is a good, solid chain.
In the same vein, they are offering a
51 tooth SuperSprox sprocket for $29.99 but it's an aluminum one. Still, it's a great deal (other smaller or larger sizes are $70+!)
I'm running a Renthal 12t counter, which puts me at 12-51, and still 1st gear is not quite low enough... but it's close (2nd is useless with any final ratio, IMNSHO). I like a trials-type 1st. Sixth is good for a causal 37mph (~5000rpms) and according to the sprocket commander website I'll top out at 93mph when I hit the rev-limiter. yeah, r-i-i-i-i-i-i-ght. (And I imagine the motor will grenade in the half hour it takes to get up that high).
Those Italian (or was it Bavarian?) engineers who were so proud to squeeze a 6th gear in this thing really blew it. I know I am beating a dead horse here, but this tranny is terrible.... ratio-wise.
If anyone ever comes up with an overdrive 6th gear set, I am totally in. Hell, I'd go with a 5 speed if I could have a lower first and a higher 5th. This motor could easily pull it- because, wow, is it strong. Maybe Shineray will come up with something- my fingers are crossed. Except for this issue, I think this bike (TE 310 family) is fantastic.
And jump on that chain and sprocket deal- it's been around for about a month and I doubt it'll last. I told some friends about it, but they were pretty nonchalant about it
