• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC TE 300 oversized gas tanks

Helgar

I've got a 2015 TE300 and I am having trouble finding any oversized gas tank for it. What brand and size are you guys using?

I did find the IMS tank but it is basically 1 litre larger than stock and I will just carry extra gas if thats my only option I am really looking for 4+ gal tank I can get around 75 miles on my stock tank I would only use it on my trips out west, locally my ride trips are usually around 30 miles so my stock tank is more than adequate

I run a 3.6 IMS on my 2017 and have gotten over 100 miles out of it.

I had the 4.1 acerbis on my old 2015 TE250 and got somewhere around 125 miles out of that tank.

Here is a link to an old thread on this subject.

It is actually a KTM tank.

Thanks that is the answer I was waiting on. I was actually going to buy one and try it.

Thanks! i think i'm going to get the 4.1gal like you had on your 250 and nice bikes also.

if you just using it now and then get wolfman saddle bags and 2 PET bottles easy to remove you wont notice it and you can also pack other stuff in it so much better than a over sized tank, i just did a ADV ride on my TE 300 18.5 litres all up got around 250 kms of range

I use generally 1 x 4 litre mineral turps bottle i put fuel foam in it to stop it sloshing around and on the other side i pack my tool roll to balance out the weight from my back back, been doing this for years and it takes way less time to install and remove than a tank

I agree that if you can come up with a good system for carrying bottles, that works well.

Every bag system I tried ended up chafing in some way

That 4.1 gallon tank goes on and off in 5 minutes, no issues.

Leave your shrouds attached to the stock tank, only undoing where they attach to the radiators.

One bolt for the tank, and disconnect the fuel line and you are golden.

Order an additional fuel petcock so one can stay in each tank.
