  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TCR Wheel Anodizing

sorry to hear that. Not making excuses for a company I know nothing about but running a biz if tough in this economic climate and companies are trying to do more with less for less. Not bitching ether, it is what it is. that siad I'd be a little pissed to because it is really hard to ride my bike without wheels. A autoclutch or tires or something takes a little time it is a simple inconvenience but you plan a ride for 2.5 weeks and don't have wheels, that's a different matter all together. Good luck.
yea TCR is the only company i found to do it. Do you know of another? and i do know what you mean as far as hours. We have had a family buissness for about 50 years now. Started with my grandfather and now dad runs it. It's also a construction company so I know how the economy can make things hard, however, my parents and grandparents have always taught me to make good on my word. I always make a point, if i say im going to do something, it always gets done. even if i don't want to. It's something i believe very strongly in, i think it says a lot about the person

This also means the total turn around time for me (im on the east coast) is around 4 weeks! 1 week to ship out. 2 weeks to work on them. 1 week to ship back. Also shipping was $75.

What you typed here is an inspiration to me. I wish I could do the same on Cafe Husky were a whole lot of people are waiting for information from me.

Unfortunately, in my case, other things are consuming my time, most of which are related to Cafe Husky - but personal things as well.

Well thank you

I didn't realize how fortunate I am having a world class anodizer a few minutes from my door. Right now they are running thousands of AR15 rifles.

Since I seem to be getting carried away with show and tell, I guess I will show how a stock hub looks in glossy black:

I'm glad you posted on your experence with them it may have saved me a headache down the road; much appreciated. I do have a local guy that does fancy machine work and powder coating. They did an excellent job on my 08 CR125 frame. I don't know anyone in central VA that anodizes.

I would recommend never powder coating your rims. Idk if that is what you meant or not when you said about powder coating, but just remember your rims have to flex, and the powder coating will crack and than chip away from the constant flex. Just my 2 cents :oldman:

Please share who the anodizing company is, and or any contact info or site you have for them. I think some people may benefit from that knowledge.

Connor I had my frame powder coated black not my rims. I do agree though and wouldn't get rims powder coated.

TCR does great work, don't give up on them. I've had a set done there before and they were done in 3 days. I work just down the street from tcr, they are a 2 person operation, husband and wife. With the bad economy the husband is working a day job while wife watches the shop and takes orders then husband starts working on wheels at about 2 in the afternoon until the wee hours of the night.

They have kids and are struggling to make it through. I know this doesnt help you and they should have made good on what you were told concerning turnaround but you will be pleased with your wheels when you get them.

Alright. Well I'm hoping for the best.

Still haven't seen my rims back. I called them twice today during their normal hours (which are short) and never got an answer. I left them a message and haven't gotten a reply back. This is starting to get ridiculous :banghead:

They called me back tonight. He said they shipped out on monday. So the way I look at it is, 7 days to ship (not counting the weekend) that puts them here around the 13th. So I sent them out Feb.11th and will "hopefully" see them back on Mar. 13th. Now that's a realistic turn around time for all you East Coast guys out there. Total payment, $325.
