  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TCR Wheel Anodizing

Connor

Husqvarna
AA Class
Has anyone ever tried TCR? Either their rims anodizing, maybe their hubs or even their complete wheel sets. I just sent my rims out to TCR to be anodized black. For me it was a 3 week turn around time. In other words it was 7 days for shipping, 7 days for the anodizing (they just moved into a new building and said they hadn't set up shop yet), and 7 day return shipping. Which is okay because I have another bike to ride, but I'm eager to see what they look like when they come back. I think black rims look better on the husky's IMO. I know people will say they show scratches more but o well.

What did it cost you if you don't mind? Look forward to seeing how they turned out. Yeah I like the black rims too.

Good to know and thanks for sharing. If I pick up a new TXC310 or TC250 I will have to do something with the rims.

I have anodized several sets of wheels and 250$ a set is a fair price. When I go through the work of making the rims black though, I powder coat the hubs, then clean up and polish the centers on the lathe:

So i called TCR to day to see where my wheel were at (it had been 2 weeks since i sent them out). So i sent them out on the 11th and they got there on the 18th. I called to make sure they got there and they said they had gotten them and that they were going to start working on them. I asked how long it would take and they said about 7 days. Now they don't work a full 8 hour (i work 10 hour days) day they only work like 9-3:30 or something like that. I said okay. Called back today and was wandering when i was going to see my rims again and they told my they weren't done and that it was going to be until friday till they sent them out! I was mad, very mad. So i asked what was taking so long and they tried to give me a bunch of excuses and i said told them stop running around the truth, when why has it taken so long? and she said well it takes about 10 days. I said no that's false advertisment, you advertise 5-7 day turn around on your site and i was even told it would only be 7 days, and she didn't have an answer and just kept saying it would take 10 days. They don't seem very disorganized there and I don't like their lack of effort. If you advertise something you do as advertised. If it takes me extra time to get something done at work to get things back to a customer by the time i said they would be done, i stay the extra time or put in the extra effort, they don't. I will not be dealing with them ever again that's for sure. They get a thumbs down from me unfourtunatley

actually it's only $150 if you delace and than relace your own rims.

Around here any Joe off the street could walk into an ano place and get front and rear rims anodized any color for under $100. More like $60 if you ask nice. The $250 deal to unlace ano and re-lace seems like a deal though. Its not hard to do but time consuming and not everyone wants to do it.

That looks so nice you might have to do your buddy Kelly a set now that you showed that off  That looks great.

sorry to hear that. Not making excuses for a company I know nothing about but running a biz if tough in this economic climate and companies are trying to do more with less for less. Not bitching ether, it is what it is. that siad I'd be a little pissed to because it is really hard to ride my bike without wheels. A autoclutch or tires or something takes a little time it is a simple inconvenience but you plan a ride for 2.5 weeks and don't have wheels, that's a different matter all together. Good luck.

trying to fine anodizers on this coast is like looking for unicorn teeth. Bigger than a triple clamp and they wont touch it. and those that will require like 25 units......geez........ big industry east coast dorks
