• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Supermoto tire question:

Me too, I'm 6'4", and I've never found a comfortable sportbike...

i'm really comfortable on my busa with lower pegs and higher bars, I use it for sport touring and track days , more better than gixxers and cbr's.

the sumo isnt bad for day trips , with the saetconcept seat.

Thats whats next for me, the Conti-force SM tires. I'll let you guys know.
I dont get any kind of mileage. First tire wore out in 700 miles, I think it was a dunlop smartmax?
My second tire , conti-motion , got about 1000 miles , got about 2000 of the current Pilot Power , I have liked that best.

Always wants to slide out a little when making a 90 degree low speed turn . like pulling out and turning from a light or stop sign.

ps , whta part of the "burg are you from , i'm in beechview.
I'm up north on 28 in new Kensington. Do you do your own work or do you go to Schulz? They're nice people.

Anyone running these, are they any good.Wanting to fit a 160 rear tyre to my SMS 630.Best tyres i had on my CCM644 were Maxxis Goldspeeds,so very interested in difference between two.

I got the Conti-force put on my sm and my confidence level went up 100%. I hope They last longer than the Sportsmax. I'm trying to incorporate more front brake (one finger it) into my riding. I think I'll get more mileage out of the rear tire if I have more balance between front & rear.

You could grab a fistful of front brake on that thing and it not lift the rear wheel, unless you're hanging over the bars.
Just because the front dives doesn't mean you're going over. Get comfortable using more of that front brake, or you'll end up in the side of a minivan when it pulls out in front of you...

The front brake was upgraded before I bought the bike. It's more than adequate! Thx for the warning tho!

Have you ever found the limit of the front brakes? I swapped in sintered pads, and it still takes a ton of force to actually lift the rear.
Roll at 30-40mph and start squeezing and see just how hard you have to go before you actually start to lift the rear, you might be surprised.

No, I never tried, but I will. I practice emergency stops with both brakes, but not with the front one.

Just put on a Michelin pilot power 2CT 160 size. We'll see how it does. Hoping to get better than 2900 miles.

If the rear is doing anything at all, then there's still room for more front brake. Not saying you need that much front all the time, but you can stop quicker with all the weight on the front.

Im running ContiAttack SM on my sm610 08. Friend of mine used ContiForce but they lasted only 1500km. AttackSM has wider angle too. After 1500km there are no flat spots (i use whole tire surface), very quick warm up...best tire ever on my husky.

I got such a great deal on the conti force that I couldn't turn it down. $225 for both tires. The profile is taller than the dunlop. They handle really well.

how have you got on with your PP 2CT fella? considering sticking a rear on mine then will change to the matching front when my pxr is done...

anyone else got any feedback with the PP 2CT on theirs? Getting bored of changing my rear every 1000 miles...

That's what I've got now, have about 1300 on it now, and plenty left to go, a lot of that fast mountain riding.
Plenty of grip, lots more than the Diablos I ran before. I run them about 22-24psi on my 630.

are you running the front and back? do they heat up fast? i'm in the uk so we will have much colder weather than you i think! and they hold ok right to the edge?

i thought the stock diablos were appalling and have been running pxr wet front and maxis streetsport rear and they stick great but need more miles from a rear, plus don't want it to square so soon...

I ended up with a PP front and a PP 2CT rear. They're ready to go all the way to the edge by the time I'm out of the neighborhood, and that's with a 160 squeezed on the rear, so that's peg-scrubbing territory. All I can say is try them, they're not the highest priced tires out there, and you'll have tons of fun with them. I can let you know when this set is done, but that will be a while. Had a friend with them on his Duke II forget to check tire pressures, the rear ended up at 10psi and he didn't know any better, killed the 2CT in about 1000 miles.

Here they are after about 40 miles of pavement, and 5 miles of gravel gov't road.

Regular Pilot Power. Next go-round, I'll probably have Pilot Power 2CT's front and rear.

ETA: Only other set I may try would be some Power Pure's, they're only about $10 more per tire and have a wider soft compound edge.
