• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Staintune Exhaust System

Now for the AF-Xied. Again all runs are with the wukaking -10*C temp offset.
I don't have all the answers for this and doesn't really prove a damn thing. Remember Dyno runs only and no AFR tracking. (would be nice tho)
This only proves that there is little or no hp gain on my bike between the 2 settings. Setting 6 should only trying to add around 2% more fuel.
Yes it would be interesting trying a more generous setting of 8 or then trying the power controller in the -20*C offset, blah! blah! but it wasn't. Sandy @ staintune put allot of his own time into getting this much data together. Every time you change a setting or part it can take 15 minutes for the computer to adapt the bulk of it's fueling changes. There must have been 30 odd dyno files for Terra as it was.

Green (file 014) FC setting 6 (fuel controller= AF-Xied)
then changed AF-Xied to setting 1
Blue (file 015) FC setting 1 (this should be operating as per oem)
notice the file numbers, this is important there were 4 runs that basically show that the computer was re-adapting and gradually improving until this, the 4th run, there was stuff all to compare (.5hp)

These bench tests I've never understood. This is the graph of when I did make the GPR. possible that there is so much difference between torque and power than those published above?ù

Sorry guys, been flat out like a lizard drinking.
I love the note that comes out of this thing now.
My comparison of before and after will be all fecked up due to me not having the bike for over a month. It ain't no r1200.
It's definately torquier and spins the revs up quicker. It may just be a liitle loud for some of you but it is only under acceleration or heavy load it barks a little, otherwise cruises along without drawing attention or being annoying.
Pull the restricter out and all sorts of hell will break loose. It will annoy your neighbors, neighborhood and people riding with you. It is nothing but evil, and will definitely get the attention of Mr Plod. I love it like this, but reserved only for trips a bit more isolated.

Got onto the airbox pod mod nearly straight away and this definately made a significant impovement in performance and believe the bike is running smoother because of it. All good except for the engine oil smell from the bleeding crankcase breather.

I thought I'd contact the factory first. There are many dealers listed in Portland, OR and SW Washington. However, none of them stock Staintune. They'd have to order them just like me.
 
I was thinking I will make a full tank for the empty side. It would fill the spot. I will hook it up to the tank vent.
The pump could tee directly into the injector feed pipe. Then just switch between pumps. The pressure relief valve in the main tank will maintain the correct pressure.
The advantage of this is that it is just a little bit easier to reach the feed pipe than the main tank neck.
You would need to be mindful to drain enough from the main tank before switching to the auxiliary tank, as the relief valve will empty into the main tank.

Maybe draw a schematic showing plumbing with an operating procedure.
 
My thinking is if you remove the vent from the top of the fill pipe. Route the line to the bottom of the auxiliary tank and install a vent on the top of the auxiliary tank. This will cause a suction as fuel is used in the main tank thus filling the main tank from the auxiliary tank. The auxiliary tank becomes the vent tank.

Good idea.

The TR's pump must be positive displacement. If it weren't the delivery hose wouldn't remain under pressure with the bike switched off.
The pump I was thinking of for the Aux Tank is a standard Bosch 38 mm used everywhere, even my Tornado uses it. Cheap as chips as well being positive displacement. (Actually I'm not so sure about that. It has a valve on the downstream side, which it wouldn't need if it were positive displacement)

Adam at Staintune is working through 400 odd emails which has stacked up a little over the easter break.

New website for Staintune is being developed and not far away.

Please realise that they are a small company in high demand and have a broad range of pipes to manufacture.
Please be patient.

They're planning a small production run for next week.

I am still all smiles that this exhaust system is on my bike. IMO and be warned it will be a little too loud for some of you. It can and does cruise along without drawing attention, but hill climbs, your favorite twisty road and medium to hard acceleration does make it bark a little. My collie kelpie x loves this bikes sound.
 
Nah! Maybe more of an excited yelp and the anticipation squeal if the ignition gets turned on. Come on, come on start it will you, please please start it. Then it does start just turns into a celebration of running flat out lapping the house yard flat out.

We have a good understanding that barking is reserved especially for strangers sneaking into yard and also cats. Neither two I have time for so all is good!
 
According to my finely tuned calibrated ass dyno, the pod mod makes significant improvements to smoothness and performance.
I recently removed my wukaking power controller from the TR and I'm not missing it one bit!
Tried backing the AF-XIED settings down from #6 to #3 and the bike was surging and not as smooth or rideable. So at the moment I will say the AF-XIED is a keeper. Setting #8 felt good but seemed to rob some mojo at higher rpm's.
 
Does the AF-XIED have a single adjustment? And, does it then add fuel throughout the rpm range based upon the setting?
