  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Spark plug cap replacment ! help

Husqvarna
I think my sprk plug cap is faulty (2005 te 510) should i replace it with a ngk type and if so which one cheers in advance.

craig

I don't know what your 2005 uses for a plug - but if the stock plug is the CR8B- than everything I wrote in <<<this post>>>> is relavant. If so, you need NGK CAP Part #SD05E (just the cap) it is plastic and use your old wire, or you could go with the NGK Racing Wire and cap part # CR3, stock #8089 (this is what I have). I have a SD05E cap in the tool box as a spare.

Or could the standard cap have become loose from the ht lead ? if it has can i reconnect it ?

YES- looks like they just updated the part numbers- the G on the end means it has a rubber gromet. The Old part numbers didn't specify- but in fact had the gromet. So I am Saying SD05E and SD05EG are the same...I think this <UK NGK Parts list is more updated than the one previously posted>
Given this new list: I'd see if you can find a SD05EM- which is the same as the cap that comes with the "racing wire and cap" which might be your first choice. If you can't find it, get the SD05EG.

Dont't seem to be able to get the EM , so got the EG more to have as a spare than any thing ! can i check the HT lead to plug connection or are the husky job's factory sealed ? and thank you for your advice and time craig

I forgot where I got mine- they seemed to have whatever I wanted at the time... but availability is key.

On the Ht lead- or cap wire. It unscrews from the plug the same as the coil. So yes you can disconnect and test. Then screw the wire back into the coil and cap. Do it once and you will see how basic it is. Most people find out by accidentally pulling an end off/ freaking out/ then figuiring it out that the wire/htlead just screws into the coil/cap. If you cut off 1/4 inch/ or 5mm you pretty much start off fresh again if need be.

up date ngk cap SD05EG DOES NOT FIT it is too bulky.I striped down the standard cap i.e removed rubber outer , they are not a screw cap the ht wire actual contacts in a cup so it relies on the ht wire touching> in my case the outer ht lead sheath had slipped down and only one core was touching so i cut back the sheath and drove her all the way home to the cup then replaced the outer water proof cap job done.

Sorry if I gave you bad info. So the plastic casing is to large of the new Cap - I'll have to check my spares. I used the Racing wire and cap- that works without issue.

No not your fault at all.Just thought sharing the info may help others.
Thanks, I needed the info, although a little late. I pulled my wire out, then pushed it back in. Never missed a lick, but i bought another stock one to replace before something did happen. Now i know I can rework it & have a spare.[or save my new one] I didn't want to mess with it before I bought one so I wouldn't be without a bike for a week.
