• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

SM630 Front Fender

/Rant on/ I would pay somebody $300 for a front fender that would actually work on wet streets. The rain had passed through so I rode my SM630 to work - big mistake! The shorty high mounted front fender let the front tire pick up all the dirty water on the road and toss it into the air only to land on my helmet and chest which then ran down into my crotch. I guess my only alternative is to wear full rain gear for wet streets on my 15 minute commute to work. I guess I should have thought about the fender location before I bought the bike to use mainly for commuting to work. /Rant off/

I guess waterproof jacket and pants are the only solution? Just sucks to wear them when it is not raining.

If it is, it's only slightly...

My advice is get an aftermarket extended fender, or just go faster... (That's what I do) ;)

That's why real road bikes have a hugger-style front fender. Dirt bike (and SM) fenders are there only to keep most of the dirt and mud off your face. They are profoundly ill-suited to wet riding. The TE fender is no better...I rode through some wet streets on Sunday and got splattered.

Seems to be an issue only below 35-40 mph. Over 40 mph it goes away. All but one of the streets on the way in are posted 25 or 30 mph. I wonder how a WR fender would mount up and look? Maybe I could adapt a Nuda front fender.....

It's a supermoto man...it's a dirty thing
You ride dirty, you get dirty, you live dirty...:notworthy:it gets in your soul, it's a wonderful thing!

But if you can't come to peace with it maybe you'll be able to graft a TE610 fender to it since they are longer like the classic dirtbike front fenders
Or you can maybe put some kind of a front touring screen?

If all else fails, you can always invest in a cheap scooter...they stay dry

Bad thing is I'm a desk jockey so the boss gets bitchy if I show up muddy like today. That is a good idea about using a small shield. Off in the dry months and on the other 9 months!
