• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rear wheel bearing help pls !

Lets just get this out in the open first....I'm not worthy ! Scenario..... 04 TC450 that needs rear wheel bearings replaced. Aquire parts, disassembled rear wheel, removed old bearings (here is the big oops), did not notate which bearings went in what position (did'nt realize there were 3). No big deal, use common sense....right? .........the 2 identical bearings would go on the outside and the bigger, beefier bearing on the inside (between the 2) WRONG ! .....After thinking it over, its apparent now the the bigger bearing would go on the right side (side with the snap ring) since that is where the brake caliper etc is and would need more support. Here is the question.....Is that correct ? Thanks for the help

I have a WR not a TC but I'm sure it would be the same. Double bearings on the drive side. (sprocket side).

Yep double bearings on the drive side, dont forget the spacer between the bearings.

I'm still working on this project believe or not ! :excuseme: Now that I have the new wheel bearings installed, in the right sequence, with the spacer etc... Now after looking at the drawing of the rear wheel assy, it shows the axle inserted in the braking side of the swingarm. I have always removed the axle from the chain side of the swingarm. My question is, which way is correct ? Or does it matter.
Thanks
Jerry
p.s. Atta boys / girls for MotoXotica for supplying me a replacement 16mm bearing that I jacked up on first attempt. Thanks Anne and Dan

Some guys that race think it is quicker to extract the axel for a wheel/tyre change by having it placed from the brake side. The manufacturer does them from the sprocket side. I think it is a case of preferences and both sides are ok.
