• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Questions for Kelly regarding TrailTech products

Hey Kelly,

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope all is well with your new position at TrailTech. I have some product questions I hope you can answer for me.

  • The bar risers for KTM/Husky bikes. They look great and I'm looking to get a set. What bar positions will I be able to run once installed? I like 3 or 4 on my 501 now but there's no mention on the website.

  • The radiator fan kit for a TE300 or KTM 300xc w. Is this just a plug in, glue a sensor and set the temperature deal?
  • Exhaust flange protector? Is this a must get or?
That's all I have for now. Plenty more to come I recon.
Thanks

Kelly,

Could you get the guys at Trail Tech to figure out how to make the Vapor Tach work on a TE511 and then post the answer here? I assume you may have tried this dance yourself as a 511 owner. I have tried to get the answer from TT several times the last few years without success.

Thank you,

RR

Good luck. Tried to ask a question and it was crickets...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Kelly is censoring himself in here with regards to Trail Tech questions. I may be way off on that, and if so I apologize. But it'd be my guess that he's trying to stay within the rules and spirit of the Cafe.

Well, he did say we could ask him questions. I figure he could have been joshing me, or is just too busy. But you do bring up a good point

It's possible. But like mentioned, he did say he would answer technical questions but I hope I didn't put him in a pickle here...

Those bar mounts will fit any position unless you run the scotts damper then your forced to one position. I'll ask tomorrow what position. Those are really nicely finished bar mounts BTW.

Yes on the fan kit, also very well thought out product. Actually several temp sensor options. Fin, slides in between the rad fins, hose, cut the line and install, or thermostat eliminator one. All work just fine. Fin option is easiest to install and no messing with coolant.

Flange protector, honestly dont know but do know some people broke the flange when hitting the pipe hard. I'm semi new to KTMs so don't know if this is a big concern or not. Probably not.

Stuff the pickup wire down by the plug cap in the sparkplug hole.
