• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Power Up Kit Question.

Husqvarna
B Class
I just installed a Power-Up kit I got from MotoXotica today. I don't really feel any difference, except that it now idles at 1600 RPM. Before the kit, it idles at 1200 RPM. Is this normal? Also, should I feel more of a power difference? Am I missing something?

You put in the resistor to replace the lambda, correct? How close are you to a dealership? They can tweak your tune for better power now that the PU is installed. Or you can pick up a JD tuner for <$200 and adjust it yourself.

If the Lambda is the little resistor thing, then yes. Just that part and the exhaust plug. My dealer went out of business. I thought $47 for more power might have been to good to be true.

Does anyone have a comment on the increased idle speed?

I think your initial RPM was too low and now it's more along the line of where it should be...if I remember correctly, 1500 is the magic number (it's adjustable)
Do you still have the OEM exhaust? if yes then that might be why you don't noticed any difference...?
Is there anyone left in the Raleigh area that still handling Huskies?

Thanks for the link. Read through the post and related links. It's pretty strait forward, so I'm confident I installed it correctly.

Yes, I have the stock exhaust and all the other smog (canisters) still on the bike. I was under the impression that the PU kit alone should give me a boost, but I honestly can't tell the difference.

PU kit plus an Ibeat (or equivalent) tune at the dealer are what makes the big difference. You have to have the power-up to be able to see a difference with the tune. Find another dealer that might be able to help you out. My dealer in Greenville, SC is Upstate Cycle. They did some fueling adjustment with Ibeat when we put in the PU kit, and then I got a JD tuner later, which gave me a lot more adjustability.

I've also yanked out the airbox labyrinth and opened the airbox a bit, and I turned the stock cans into cat-less perf-core flow throughs.

stock pipe? i did the DIY power-up and gutted the pipe on the same afternoon and the difference was amazing. sooo much better now.

I noticed no power increase. The only thing i noticed was it didn't stall on me anymore when i rapidly deeclerated. Then i modified the air box and put a FMF pipe on and i noticed a little change. Then i got the JD tuner..and i was amazed. If you want your bike to snap you will have to spend the $200 on JD powersurge. I didn't want to put more $$$ into the bike, but i'm glad i did.

If you installed the PU and didn't change the settings with iBeat then of course the JD unit will get you a big increase.
