As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Last purchase for my SM 630? The "iBeat 2.1" is on the way in the mail...![]()
Same deal with the ZipTy tip...The solution is not to buy the HH lever but buy only the HH shift tip. Remove stock Husky tip and replace with HH using a few washers as needed to shim tight. There is a post somewhere here about it. I haven't received mine yet so can't post a photo.

Kool story Bro!! Now you can return it and get a JD tuner.. I got the Ibeat download from dealer.. new.. The jd tuner is what you want to get.. PERIOD!!
My package from Uptite Husky came in a couple of days ago. Here's what it included:
Aluminum Throttle Tube with bearings both ends, for barkbusters. Since I have HDB I had to cut .34" off the bar due to the end configuration of the tube. I used a sleeve as a guide for my hack saw and it worked great. Installed.
Shifter Mod. It's a sleeve that fits behind the shift lever to account for slop in the shift rod (as it wears a bit) and keeps the lever from getting into the case. Installed.
Spare Counter Shaft Sprockets. I bought 16 and 14 T in George's recommended brand. George swears that the bike is geared too low, and it may be for the CA desert aces, but I plan on installing a 45 T rear and the 16 will put me to stock gearing if needed, and the 14 will give me more control for the tight and steep stuff. Install as needed.
Uptite Skid Plate. A work of art! Will install when the bike is off of it's blocks. Suspension is at LT Racing now.
Next up: George's Uptite Exhaust! Have to wait a few weeks on that, but dropping 20 pounds is just too tempting to try and save money. I love the red tip on the Uptite, too.
How good is the adhesion? Can you scrape it off with your fingernail? I just wish they would come out with black plastics so we can turn our SM's into true hooligan bikes.
Would like to see pics of the shifter mod and his exhaust solution when you get a chance. I've heard good things about the throttle tube, but wasn't sure how it would work with the HDB. Thanks for the update!
iBeat is a usefull tool to have if you own a Husky 4T that uses it. You need it to reset your TPS. To check fail codes if needed. Check actual motor hours (dash shows hours key is on, not motor running, they do differ). Adjust fueling, etc. iBeat and a EFI tuner both do things the other one cant. I say keep iBeat even if you have a EFI tuner of any brand. 4 Husky 4T's here, and iBeat, no tuners. I am keeping mine.![]()
My white Safari is in my local UPS truck right now and I'll have it today. I REALLY want to find a way to make the bottom part of the tank black and intend to go to my local plastic fabricator for some scraps of PE plastid for experimentation purposes. I intend to try the Krylon and black die. what I'm thinking of is coating one side and then finding a way to contain gasoline on the other, then let them set for a few weeks to see what happens. The hard part with the die is leaving the top white. Maybe some fineline masking tape would prevent the die solution from migrating. Like I said, it's going to be an experiment. What ever happens will take place before the tank is mounted and while it is still clean. Failure on the final product could get ugly! You might try Krylon Fusion.
