  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Possible TE 310 or 499

you will love it! I love my te511. Seriously you hear it on every manufacturer oriented forum, but this is definitely the most fun bike I have owned. I am just cruising around on the street, but its a blast!

I don't know where you live but most of us near NJ are up to our a**** in snow , with no end in sight . I'm ok with it because my winter fix for speed is snowmobiling

Picking up TE449 tomorrow. Going to use GS for touring/light off-roading. Haven't ridden a MX bike in quite a few years. Best upgrade around $500? Not really sure how to power up stock bike ie de-cat and install jumper. Does o2 sensor have to get removed and plugged?

O2 can stay in place. If the bike doesn't come with a jumper, just use some wire in the plug to make the connection. Best upgrades for $500 would be an ECU flash, ZipTy breather, and slip on muffler. This will make it run much better.

I would trade this in for...
Take some ......

One of these.

Looked under the seat-didn't find a jumper. Does it need to be installed if I get map flashed? Did a rip in the snow. Have to wait till tues to plate. How do I yank the cat can? Should be fun-supposed to hit mid 40's next week...

Power up mentioned above is solid advice. You're a big dude, however, so springs (especially in the rear) are gonna be a must.

The plug has a rubber...plug or end cap on it. It is kind of in front of the ecu. Just stick a wire in it under the plug, push the plug/cap thing back on. voila racemap II. Im on week 2 of my te511. It was not that great at first. But just have faith in some modifications.

Get a slip on or full exhaust,

TC airbox lid (has vents)

Get it flashed into racemap 3 (I got a power commander and wish I had done the racemap 3 first)

I have a slip on, open lid, and now a zip ty fuel and IGNITION map. and it is starting to haul butt. Seriously, it revs to the moon now and really rails!

Ordered an fmf slip on w/insert & toggle switch from toura tech. I'm guessing it switches between stock and racemap II by opening or shorting (closing) the circuit. Plan in sending ecu out for re-map race map III. Took smog off today. Hope to put a few mile on with weather breaking mid week. Thumb drive with user info would open on my computer-need to get copy for maintenance schedule.

Theres a 2012 workshop manual avail online for free. Its a good manual actually. As far as its laid out in sections well.

I honestly hated my bike when I first got it . It felt like I was riding a 100 cc bike . I had all the mods done that you are planning ,minus the toggle switch . The bike is a beast now. I never did anything with the rear spring , I do mainly trail riding and am not really doing any type of jumping , so I never had a issue with bottoming out . The bike is so sweet on the whoops , the faster you go the better it is . You are a few inches taller than me so you mite need some type of bar riser for stand up riding , I just loosened up the bar clamps on mine and turned the bars up a little and it worked for me , also get rid of the useless stock hand guards and get theseimage.jpg

Jmkav,
Congrats on the new bike!

So, for the improvised jumper what gauge solid wire is needed?
The ones I picked up from the store were way too big...
I tinned a smaller stranded wire but was having trouble working it into the plug.
