• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

PNW Husky event. Bend, OR. Oct. 15-16, 2010

Quads are all good in my mind as long as they're not on single track. Tell your buddy to wear a kidney belt though, cause those China Hat whoops are the real deal!!

Kelly,
I can update the first post in this thread with the prospective list of people going.
I'll work on it later today.

Motel Comfort Inn

IIRC one of the motels on the south end of Bend is owned by a riding family. I will do some searching on the OMRA forum and see if I can confirm, but I think it is a Super 8. They have been known to encourage riders when there are events in the ara.

Dustsucker had it right ....

Here is the Comfort Inn info.

She will be doing a discount for OMRA/racers/riders again. You can either call the hotel and just ask for the OMRA discount, or you can email her at Belinda@comfortinnbend.com. She just had a baby so she is only there a couple days week right now.

The riders don't need to be OMRA, they can just ask for the motorcycle rider discount. We are also working on donating part of the revenue to a good cause again, like we did for the fallen rider last year.

There info is comfortinnbend.com, (541)617-9696. Or my sisters email is Belinda@comfortinnbend.com.

I thought about adding a poll, but peoples lives are in constant flux so that would not help.

In addition to you having a post updated, if Kelly wants to help, he could make his own list in post #2 of this thread, ideally links to whatever the person last persons post was pertinent to their status.

Isn't it really really nice not to have posts locked after 10 days to make these types of things much easier to organize? :)

Dave get your ass out there. Need to meet and ride with you finally.

(Dave owns Giant Loop and lives in Bend)

Would be cool to have you there and might have an extra husky for you to ride so your not embarrassed. :D

Sounds like a plan. Doing the Lost Coast ride the weekend prior and if the orange bike is still running, I'll roll out there and meet up with you folks. If the KTM is all beat up, I might take you up on a Husky ride!? and ride the 950 for an overnighter.

Might want to put the dates in the thread title, too
I can do it for you if you like.

Thanks for the input.
It's done!

You're more than welcome to make any changes you see fit. It wouldn't bother me one bit.

I also made a list of those confirmed and those on-the-fence. If I goofed or misunderstood your response then please advise and I'll change it.

The list doesn't look too impressive, but I assure you there are going to be some bodies in China Hat that weekend. I'm guessing I'll roll down with 8-10 people myself and I'm sure every name on the list will be bringing others with them too.

See y'all soon!

I am in for at least Saturday, unless something bizarre happens, probably Friday too.

My wife is running a half marathon Sunday so I should be there to support her.

Later,

In?

I'm working on the time off from work and a pass from my loving wife.

If she comes along are there intersting things for non riders to do?

If she's not coming I'll be riding from Whidbey Island and camping. If she comes we will either rent a motorhome or motel it. I'm looking forward to meeting more Husky riders. Most of my riding buddys are on KLRs or those orange things:lol:

Bend is an awesome place to do stuff. Tons of stuff to do. Bring her and motel it, you will not regret it.

If you want to splurge a little and make her a happy girl book into the Sunriver Resort. Lots of fun stuff there and they baby you, at least they used to way back when I used to stay there to golf in couple of tournaments.
