• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

610 fine

I have ridden my 610 out there. Plenty of open trails and opportunities to pick up speed in addition to the single track ... most of which isnt too tight either.

A good set of knobs would help. I can loan you a set if you want to do a little swapping when you get there. I will be bringing motorhome and trailer so I will bring both the 610 and 300.
 
IIRC one of the motels on the south end of Bend is owned by a riding family. I will do some searching on the OMRA forum and see if I can confirm, but I think it is a Super 8. They have been known to encourage riders when there are events in the ara.

No such thing as too big at China Hat. Bring the biggest and baddest you got :cool:
China Hat is TOTAL noob friendly. The north trails are wide open, flowing and no blind corners.

This is going to be an awesome event. Huge props to the Husky community planning to attend, especially those making the long haul.

I'll never complain about the 4hr trip from Portland again!

Would be cool to have you there and might have an extra husky for you to ride so your not embarrassed. :D

I may be coming 600 actual miles to get there but I can't wait. I expect to have both my WR167 and WR360 along for anyone to try. This area sounds like perfect 360 country.

I have stiffened up the suspension on my 360 although I am sure it is still too soft for what you like but better than in Moab. You will have to try it and give me more advice on possible improvements.

I wouldn't mind heading up there again, for sure:thumbsup: I'm not much of a night rider, can't see as well as I used to (you know, being "mature" and all) and I like to know what I'm about to hit, but I wouldn't mind doing some of the shorter ones. I almost had myself talked into iron-manning the last one but Cindi saved me from myself and, in doing so, allowed me to bring home a 2nd place trophy :)

Speaking of Cindi, I'm waiting to hear from her. I'm trying to get the time off for this Husky Gathering and I'd love to ride with her again, too!
She lives in LaPine :)

Small world. I think I know Cindi in LaPine. She and her husband Robert are friends with my brother Mark (who I expect to show us all the best trails since he lives next to China Hat).

Yep, that's her! That gal rocks! Have you ever ridden with her? She used to do the D36 enduro series here, the last class she won overall for the year was B-200. I really hope she can join us.

There is a little beginners loop right there at the camp. Good place for quads :lol:

I personally have nothing against quads except that they run over your feet if you try to ride one like a bike .....

I rode with her once at Huckleberry Flats near Oakridge. Also went to the Washougal national with them this year.

Would be good if we can get her out there. Now you have more incentive to show up!
