• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

On the calender. Cool. I have at least one epic group ride planned for every month now.

If I make it over there we can do a 36 to 38 mm PWK comparison. Also, if I make a parts order could you bring them with you? The wife would intercept the UPS delivery and see that I'm spending money again.... :bonk:

You will want to factor in for the 4000' elevation ....

I know PKWs are magic, but the elevation might matter.

My 2500ft jetting always seems to be fine there.

That sounds reasonable ... it is the 40' to 4000' foot that I wonder about. If I get my ducks in a row I may have a WR to try this on by then myself.

pretty much what I ride, no issues. Hood River / coast range (near zero) to Gifford around 4000, with just the air screw.

... so we are back to the magic of the PWK :)

Nope, pretty much all my bikes will do that.

I'm not trying to sell carbs here, just the facts. I have never rejetted from the coast range to Bend and always ran good regardless of bike.

when i did the Idaho City ISDE i did need to rejet for the 8000 feet stuff for sure.

In the olden days coming from Bend we always had to rejet our Bings for Washougal :D (well Mikunis too) I do think carburetors have improved some in the last half century though and water cooling has made the operating temps of engines more uniform.

Power valves, water cooling, better carbs, better oil, better ignitions, better everything :D

I think LiL Joe from TT was describing this area near Bend during the D100 campout. Sounded like nirvana. Wonder if I can get away with this AND possibly a Starvation Ridge ride in the same month :)

Sounds like a great possibility for PNW/NORCAL event.

Guess I better clean the kegs in case this works out

The wife bought a bigger motorhome yesterday just so we will have a nicer place to hang out for the 1st annual greater Northwest Cafe Husky Rider Fall Get together.

:applause: for Nancy

Now we just need to figure out which staging area to camp at...

WOW, now thats a wife.

Attagirl!

I'll be dragging the ol' RV over the hill and into the dez myself. Unless my wife doesn't go. Then I'll just sleep in the dirt and save $150 in gas.

Do you all want this a Husky-only gathering or open invite? It's public land, so nobody can prevent anyone else from going, but not sure if I should extend the invite to non-Husky owners or not.

Well, she does think the motorhome has other purposes :) but a gift horse is a gift horse and I will take it.

I was planning to invite my brother since he practically lives at China Hat and he knows all the trails very well ... maybe I can get him to camouflage that orange thing he rides. Be careful about trash talking him, he is in second place in OMRA 50 Expert GP series points race and China Hat is his home turf...but he is a nice guy even if he does ride a KTM.
